OK so maybe early days, but so far stinka, makeitfit and me (for my petrol road motor) clivvy and zippy both maybe's, Ray needs an order for ten to make it worthwhile at £50 a time, this is a worth while mod that will improve low down power and fuel consumption, Rick
This is an interesting thread, and I would definitely be interested in one for the £50.00 asked, however tinkering with the engine management system holds great fear for me in case whatever I do is irreversible.
I don't do off road, but could the device provide a bit more grunt, when towing a caravan?
Is it possible to see some photos of it attached, with the wiring connections?
Can it be turned off when not required I.e. not towing?
Thanks
Alan
I am just trying to find if I can get the same plug and socket from the wiring loom of the Nissan, I am sure I found them somewhere a while ago, but can't find them at the moment. If not I will just add a couple of AMP or MOLEX ones, so I can unplug it and insert it in the cct when I need it.
When I do not need it in place (E.G MOT, etc) I can just connect unplug it, and put the connectors back together.
If you can find a source for the 5 pin Bosch connectors I could look at including that in the build. Won't be much use for the Hitachi MAF though, although Bosch seems to be the more common type.I am just trying to find if I can get the same plug and socket from the wiring loom of the Nissan, I am sure I found them somewhere a while ago, but can't find them at the moment. Rick could probably get some pictures of his install for you. This is an interesting thread, and I would definitely be interested in one for the £50.00 asked, however tinkering with the engine management system holds great fear for me in case whatever I do is irreversible.

intresting.. plug and play would be very cool

I don't have it fitted, as I have the ZD30 engine witch sports a VNT turbo so the benefit would be far less apparent.
What the unit does is quite subtle, and at worst it will be restoring the MAF signal to somewhere closer to it's original as new specification.
MAF's age, and cleaning them certainly helps but ultimately a fine layer of dirt builds up which progressively de-sensitises it. This is especially apparent a low air speed/volume where the fueling needs to increase from idle, otherwise you find yourself applying a lot more throttle to compensate for this dead spot.
So there exists a possibility for some fuel saving here too!
It would be a simple matter to arrange for a switch to defeat the unit if and when required.
Whats the plug called, part number?
