M12 Steering Stop Caps

Rather than greasing the steering stops which washes off the 1st time you go through a ford, I pop a set of 4 of these on which wear through eventually but my last set lasted 11 months :thumb2

I guess best really all round to back off the steering slightly, but circumstances don't always allow.

Mine are still the originals, let me take that back.... I have never replaced them, so they are probably worn through after 21 years lol... still a blob of grease x4 sorted

I bought some genuine nissan ones and they lasted 3 months before the horrible grinding noise came back.
Binned them and stuck to the grease :thumb2

some of my scrappers have S/S caps not sure if they were original or after market, but they do not need grease, never grease mine any way just back off a little, Rick

You won't regret it, just measure your steering stops first mate, should be 20mm in diameter from face to face if you know what I mean, not sure if Nissan changed the sizes as mine is a Mk3

Just went out to measure these today. After I removed the old grease there was what looked like stainless hex cover with a nylon end??

I tried to remove them to measure the hex head, but I could not get them off. Do they just pop off with a lever and a bit more effort? Just wanted to check before I got too carried away... :augie

Yep that's what mine pushed onto

Mine were a pain in the bum to get off. Lots of twisting with grips for about ten minutes each. Make sure you stock up on your profanities as steering stops use them quite quickly.

Got mine from Milners last year but I'm sure I paid a lot less than they're charging now ....
