If you go with the specialist insurance comanies they don't bat an eyelid at a lift.

Sureterm allow 3" total lift for new customers and 3 1/2" for existing, not sure about adrian flux but they'll be similar and I'm told NFU are very good too.

After all it doesn't really make your vehicle anymore of a risk to them in fact the balance of opinion in insurance (i am told) is shiftting to the attitude that if someone has spent time and money modifying a vehicle they are more likely to drive carefully and thus less likely to have an accident.

In my experience this is absolutlely right. My son got into Golf GTi's and trackdays, I even had a go round Mallory. Some people could not believe that a 19 yr old(he is now 25) could insure a modified Golf GTi but we found that if you chooose the right insurer and declare everything that you do to the car they do indeed take the view that you are more likely to take care of your vehicle.

After compairing HB's old mav to my standard T2 I could see clearly the advantage of the body lift as HB had so much more room for his larger tyre to move than my set up  As for the centre of gravity all the weight is in the engine, G/box, axels etc as stated above & TBH 4-6 people can easily lift the body off the chassis. I think Bluebulls T2 is a good example of how a lifted truck can handle well on the road

i too like what bluebell has done but it has cost him mega bucks(and hassle)to get it there.i'm looking at the poor mans option  was going to do the lift on my old one but never seemed to have the time.now ive got the time i havn't got the money :( think it will be a new year project unless i can flog enough stuff to give me a bit of spare cash.might just go for the milners 1 1/2"kit but i could do with going up there to see exactly what you get. :?

I thought Milners was just springs, if so see Hummingbird as his kit is cheaper and higher(2")

Milners do a 1 1/2" body lift kit too.

HB bodylift kits coming soon - will be 1 1/2" too I think though may do others too.

just out of interest hb whats going to be included in your kit just blocks and nuts and bolts or bumper brackets.are they going to be nylon or ally and last of all what is is going to cost :?: any club discounts

Will be nylon spacers as they don't corrode. Steel ones rust and ally ones soon start looking rough too.

No idea yet on price.

Wasn't going to do bumper brackets necessarily but I could I suppose. I'll have to have a look actally cos certain size lifts will be a pain to do as it won't be possible to mount the bumoers again easily - will have a play one day and see.

body lift

depending on what lift i do finally do  i was going to get the bumper brackets lazer cut at work.only takes about 10 mins to do the proccess and it can be saved and re-run if needed.could be a joint venture if things take off.not trying to cut into your market but i could get a batch run off at a good price if they work o.k.

well good news guys the new 31" a/t tyres are rubbing lots had a trim in the arch again but still rubbing.

think the wheels have too much off set for the tyres on the truck

i have a good 2" out past the plastic arch

might have gone a bit extreme ?

cutting again tomorrow

could a body lift be on the cards after all :?
maybe tweaking the front torsion bars might give you a bit more clearance.

no spring lift was due for next weekend but might move that forward to tomorrow weather permitting, i refuse to take the wheels off till its done... they look the muts nuts

body lift

thats my concern with going up to 31"tyres.i know they are gonna catch because the 235's in a mud terrain do.my mate has got a set of wheels with 31"a t tyres on so i might ask him if i can put 2 on the front just to see what i have got to do.its the off set of my rims that are causing the problem.i had to cut back the arch liner and flatten the seam to get them to clear on full lock.

yeah... definitely your off set. and you have spacers too. i will do a pic of mine today in the rain so you can see my offset , i love it .

now the offset is staying i just need to work from that up now. just wish i had a garage

body lift

same here.dont want to change the offset as i like it and it feels more stable in cornering at speed.tempted tp buy a cheap gazebo to put up over the motor while i work on it as i too dont have a garage

elty

as im crap at putting pics on my posts i decided to look at the gallery for pics with similar offset, and you guessed it you have the same offset as me. are your pics with the spacers or not . i with the help of mr grinder got cutting today and now no rubbing except on the tops of the arches (on rough ground)... but once the spring lift is fitted it will be fine and i know i wont have problems later as i'll have an extra 2" lift to how they are now

with the trimmed plastic im also getting lots of mud all over now... well happy

will do a post on @spring kits help" later tonight as im confused on that... then when the snorkel arrives i will only have to tackle the bumpers

off set

have now fitted the arches and rear bumper from a mk 2 to cover the tyres.not decided what colour to spray them yet.dont know weather to have them blue or a satin black finish :?

wow elton, coming on well. could be route for me too. look at the air in those arches, is that the suspension or body lift?

i know it goes against the grain but if body lifted would need to leave
steps on for mrs and kids. would it create an odd gap or should steps
be jacked up as well ( remounted )?
