Over the past week I have noticed that there has been an annoying tapping sound coming from the drivers side wheel arch that is more prevalent when driving over uneven surfaces.

I jumped out the truck earlier and rocked it from side to side which induced a loud tapping sound when the truck returned from the left side to the right side, I turned the wheel out of the way and took a look and noticed that there was a little contraption that slotted into the lower arm and fixes underneath with a nut however the nut was missing and I was able to slide the contraption up and down out of the lower arm with ease by hand

My first question is, What is it and what does it do?
My second question, What size nut do I need to re-attach it to the lower arm

Sorry for the blurry pic and ignore that massive hole in my gaitor, I have a new one just haven't got round to fitting it yet :doh

Your outer cv boot is fooked as is your anti roll bar link (bushes)

Check all cv boots and suspension bushes

Remove rear anti roll bar, it does fk all

I have no front on either at the mo, but its causing me to get sea sick even in short journeys :lol

The link may well be ok, but they are only £15 for a decent one

Is it the Anti Roll bar link that has lost the nut, do you say it's knackered because of the gap?

And I've got a new outer gaiter that I plan on fitting some time soon as it's been floating round in the boot for the past 2 months

I have killed an anti roll bar link last p&p washer at top pushed right up off the link, causing it to knock like fk

Looking at your drop link, I would say it's fooked, the rubber is split and it's missing the nut..which you know, just get a new one.
The longer your leave the CV boot like that, the more chance you have of knackering your CV joint.

I've just replaced both my arb links on the front as they were very worn (£10.99 a pair delivered on eBay) then fitted uprated poly bushes to links and arb (in orange) while I was at it (£12.60 from Milner's).

Can I have the links for it all mate?

No problem.
Here's the eBay item number for the links I purchased
230892058094
Those links come with standard rubber bushes, but I decided to uprate with these. This comes with arb bushes too.

I had to grind my old links off as the threads were very rusty. Had to remove bump stops to gain access for grinder.

You've replaced the actual bar as well by the look of how shiny it is, how much was that and do you have a link to that as well

It does look like it, but no. The poly bushes haven't got a split in so I slid them over the ends of the bar. One of the bar ends had quite a bit of surface rust so I slid them both on from one end and as it slid down the bar it cleaned it up. Because the main part is behind the crash plate, it was only a bit oily on the centre part of the bar.

If you are looking for an ARB I have a couple, removed from my off road motors, Rick

Has fitting poly bushes to the ARB made any difference to the handling of your truck

I couldn't tell you mate. Only had my t2 a couple of days with limited driving. And one of my links was that worn, the ball joint had separated so arb not doing much. Poly bushes fitted while I was doing links. So there is less body roll but that will be more to do with having a working arb lol.

Be warned cheap ebay shit does not last I get mine from local motor factors at £14 made by blue print has lasted just over 2 years and I do alot of green laning but no p&p sites .

Mission Success :D Polybushes fitted and the handling is now superb and best of all the knocking and tapping sound has disappeared when going over speed-bumps and bumpy roads

1000th post and 1000 thank you's to all of you guys that make this forum what it is, without you all I would be hundreds of pounds out of pocket :thumb2:thumb2

Next job, brake pads and removal of rear prop to see if thats in fact the source of my high speed rattle
