Sorry about that but I've posted it many times before
I find the search function on this site absolutely bloody rubbish , so I'll let you off for not finding it :lol
If in doubt on any mods, check out my photo bucket link, there's loads on there ;) I've done most of them lol

After replacing the droplinks and renewing the bushes it appears I've developed another rattle again underneath and upon inspection it looks like the right hand side clasp that holds the bar to the chassis has broken off one of the bolts that holds it on

I think this may have been my fault as I probably overtightened it

What's the best way to repair this? Will I be OK to just drill through and use a standard nut and bolt to secure it or is there a better option?

if you are referring to the U shaped saddles that hold the ARB to the chassis then just drill it out and replace with a nut and bolt, as long as you can get to the other side to fit the nut, without going out and having a look in the dark I cannot remember if you can get to it or not, Rick

Spot on mate, do you know what size bolt I should be using off the top of your head or shall I just have a measure up tomorrow?

did this on my last truck, just drill it out and get a bolt to fit the new hole

Yours words sounded so easing and simple however I've had nothing but a ballache :doh

Couldn't get proper access to it so jacked the car up and removed the bar totally

I managed to angle grind off the rest of the thread that was protruding however when it came to drilling a new hole that was a totally different story

What type of drill did you use? I've used a 600watt Bosch on hammer with a heavy duty bit constantly for 45 mins and it doesn't even look like it's scratched the surface

Surely there has to be an easier way of removing whats left there?

Sharpen the drill and turn the hammer off its only mild steel will drill easily

You shouldn't be using hammer action on steel, you will blunt the drill bit.

Start with a small drill first after using a hole punch to centralise the drill, then go up in step sizes.

Use a bit of oil on the drill bit.

Oh make sure the drill is rotating the right way, and not reverse...:doh

It certainly didn't feel mild and it was a brand new drill bit :nenau

I think I'm going to go for a change of tactic and get it on the ramp at my mates unit and attempt it that way with a bit of heat and a bigger drill

Bit of heat is the last thing you need:doh

well there are bits and there are bits, I would have done it with a battery drill on speed 1, but it is not a hard bolt so will drill easy with a good bit and slower speed and high pressure, light pressure and high speed will dull a bit in seconds, Rick

HAMMER ACTION :lol:lol:lol:lol Drill bit will be a blunt stump in seconds :doh
As said, above sloooow speed and big pressure is the way :thumb2 Oh yeh, and a simple sharp drill bit , simples :thumbs

i used hss cobalt bits to do mine started with small bit then then upgraded to a bigger one to make the hole bigger :naughty
