yeah its td not tdi she first threw her toys out the pram on the m4 about three months ago rac changed fuel and air filter and everything seemed a.o.k. (never seen a mini filter) but then out the blue it started all over again before that i changed the fuel line from the tank right the way through as it was corroded to the point of leaking all over chasis...someone suggested blanking egr off or replacing it or possibly an injector going down.. recently put redex injector cleaner through after she started spluttering didnt help...

Sounds like crap in the mini filter, especially if you've just done the fuel lines:rolleyes:
There's a mini filter in the fuel line banjo on the pump. Check that out first as it's top of the "power loss" table on the TD :sly

mini filter, id also re check the fuel filter, perhaps RAC man used a poor quality one and it has not sealed correctly.

re l.o.p.

ok one thing for sure i'll be checking the banjo filter thanks guys. i think that i may have found the problem which now presents a new problem. i changed the fuel filter and could not get the filter to prime up basically i believe that the filter body primer is shot and not sure where to get one went to nissan and they say they need a part number. guess what cant find one on the primer what so ever can anyone help on this one cheers guys...

cheap filters dont always sit on the seal right.

might be worth having another look at that bit.

also as youve "moved" it about. so have a look at the fuel lines as could be letting air in too..

If you fill the filter first with diesel you wont even need to prime it
Just make sure the seal is good and in place properly and a little smear of go juice on it will seal it easily:thumbs

Had same sort of problem with mine renewed filter housing £115 from Nissan also replaced the 2 rubber fuellines to the housing and all now ok>

lop think mystery solved

took filter housing off changed for second hand one off flee bay so then took mine to pieces .and if i can work out how to put pics on here youll see what i found im actually surprised it ran at all....the bit top centre is at this point still cloged with hair, metal and god only knows what.... so is loss of power occurs check this first before spending lots of cash thanks again for your aid still yet to check mini filter...

hi, sounds like problem, i had with the mav. the diaphragm on the lift pump was sucking air in .fuel housing tdi will fit, mines a 98 same bracket.

meant to get back about my loss of power sooner but had few probs and moved house.
Right the fault was los of power the cure was i took the four screws out of the rectangular lid on the filter head teased it of with a screw driver to find that it was severely blocked. btw this was / is the inlet pipe from tank to eng. not sure what this does but has two wires out the top. once cleaned out no more loss of power.... thanks for all the advice on this once again it has been helpfull. im now back to running on anything i can throw in the tank to make it run lol.......
