I haven't given up fully yet. Awaiting one more lender for the 2006 terrano. If they say no then I'm back to square one :(

I can swallow the large road tax too :( it is a vehicle i really want.

Failing that if the worst comes to it, what are people's experiences with 2008 era pathfinders?

This seems like such a happy forum :thumb2 :D

The tax band goes higher after march 2006

Yeah it is a bugger, still looks like something i am going to have to live with.

There isn't many 06 reg Terrano's around think i've only seen a couple on the road in the NE prob due to the £490 road tax but there are plenty 05/55 plate Terrano's around here as the tax is only £280 a year (not long taxed mine) my 02 plate Astra was £270 a year:augie
If you need to take out finance to get a new motor see your bank for a loan over 3-5 years as the rates are far better.

Hey bud, welcome to the club :thumb2

I'm a Trol owner so can't help you with the Terrano questions... but instead of finance have you thought about getting an unsecured personal loan? That's what I did when I bought my Trol (after looking at the likes of moneysupermarket etc for finance options) and after a bit of research I went with Zopa. Might be worth a try as you then have the cash in hand and can negociate with the knowledge that you already have funds.

And I see Sweety had already posted something similar while I faffed about with my typing :doh

:lol:lol:lol I had no probs getting the money off the bank even tho i'm not in work due to ill health & they kept ringing me up asking if I wanted even more money:eek: Cleared it all off a few years back now:thumb2 just need to pay the royal bank of Mum & Dad back now for my new Terrano:augie

Hmm, hsdnt thought of a personal loan. My credit must be ok as the rates they are offering me are in the "good" cstegory on their website. I will check with my bank tomorrow morning. Do they give an instant answer or a long wait? Thanks for the input :)

We've done it twice over the years walked in asked about a loan 20mins later they put 3K into our account:thumbs another plus thing with the bank you'll own the motor from the start unlike with a finance company who have a claim on it until the final payment is made, plus finance companies always have extra fees for this, that & the other & they don't like you doing any sort of mods:doh

Yeah Royal bank of mun and dad here still awaiting for our funds back. But looks like we will have to write the money off.Ha Ha at last i know how the big banks work.:lol:D

Howdy again all,

So I decided to ride down to the bank today on my trusty old yamaha (and got soaked)

spoke to my bank who just outright said no (politely) and spoke to santander who did a credit check and declined . So it seems I am in the hands of the finance company again. I have recently spoken with one of the guys, he said the car I was looking at has been declined (terrano 2006) but there is a lender that has just approved (with different vehicle terms)

I should expect a call within a couple of hours (was about 2pm)

So I am sitting here awaiting the (good or bad) news.

Theyll probably tell me I have to buy a Crv or something :whip:

I NEED A PROPER 4X4!! :lol

Ok, so with the criteria they have given me, it leaves me in too tight a situation.

the vehicle must be 2008 onwards.. with less than 70k on the clock and must be worth atleast 6k. the only proper 4x4's i can find are pathfinders and land cruisers, both are way too much money for my liking...

And with the sort of figures id be paying back a month on a 11k car (340 a month over 4 years!!!!) it might actually work out better to go with the old finance company as their criteria is much more flexible (2002 onwards) and I can pick myself up a cheapish motor.

Whatcha guys reckon?
