Despite having installed my Lokka some weeks ago today was the first chance I've had to test it properly.
I went down to the Bala Off Road Pay and Play day and gave the old girl a right good thrashing up and down and round about and though some slightly too deep water and the Lokka was brilliant. Grip was superb and steering was not noticeable affected.
I did have a moment into a water splash when the steering went all heavy. Turned out the power steering belt was slipping when it got wet. New belts time I think. Just about undrivable without the power steering, not good when a quick turn is required and a nightmare when the water is half way up the doors and the splash is bendy. Quick tweek with the spanners and all was well. I also discovered that the water, well brown soup really, fills the doors though the drain holes and then emerges from behind the door panels into the foot well. Ho hum.
The Lokka has to be one of the best offroad mods you can make for the money, my truck wasn't too bad before but it's brilliant now.
More "testing" in a couple of weeks.

Excellent report mate :) want !!

I binned my carpets mate as they sponge all that shitty water up and never dry out

Yep no question the Lokka is the dogs b, but not with auto hubs, I blew both my welded hubs today, not at the same time, and fitted spare autos I had in the back but they were clicking like mad so could not see them lasting very long, exactly why they were doing this I do not know, I hasten to add I did not weld the hubs, they were on the first off roader I bought, I will weld them up and they will not fail, Rick

I've got manual hubs on mine, just didn't trust the auto ones.

Interesting to find that you did not notice a steering difference. Mine is very noticeable .. a lot heavier ... very front wheel drive if that makes sense.

In 2WD LOKKA obviously not engaged and steering is back to normal

Yeah, chuck the carpets mate, also when it gets muddy inside, you can pop out the drain plugs and hose it all down :thumb2

You sure it's unlocking then ?

Pretty sure I explained that yes.

In 4wd works fine but heaving steering.

I have found, on the road, with the hubs locked but in 2wd there is a slightly greater effort required but after a few miles I stopped noticing it.
Off road, hubs locked and 4wd, it seems to feel as it did before I fitted the Lokka except it feels more 'surefooted' if you know what I mean.
I can hear the "click" from time to time but as I know what it is, it's not a concern.

As to the carpets, I need to be able to drive the car long distance on the road as well as the off road so comfort does play a part. I'll live with occasional wet patch and bits of mud.

Peter

off road 4wd - driving is quite heavy - manual hubs locked
2wd - hubs disengaged - driving as per normal

might go and put the terrano on a ramp to have it chcked over - but it seems to lock and unlock as intended.

Perhaps I feel the LOKKA more with a SWB?
