Strange things: car runs normal again!
As said before, I cleaned the fuel filter (took the little water thing at the bottom apart as well to clean it). Checked banjo filter: no filter there. But I did install a new belt while I had the steering pump loose.

Reinstalled everything, primed the fuel filter, and with persistence I got it going. Ran fine on a short drive :nenau

Taking it for a good spin tomorrow, more news follows.

OK seems the Zexel set up is bridge and hold, Bosch bridge and release, BANSHEE YOUR DEPARTMENT TO PUT THIS IN A READILY FINDABLE PLACE am sure many will have cleared their codes without realising, Rick

OK so it may not be pump manufacture related, but the fact remains that there are two systems on the go, and do not think it is year related as both my cars are within a bit of each other round HL Mk 2's, Rick

I'll test mine again tomorrow and I'll see if I can get the workshop download modified Rick

Bosch Maf = Bosch pump, Hitachi maf = Zexel pump but seems it may not be pump related as to how you do the paper clip, I only assumed as I have one of each pumped motors and one is link and hold the other is link and remove, Rick

My Maverick 14pin Zexel set up is bridge and hold, are there 2 types of Ecu ?

yes there are, depending on pump, but it seems this is not the governing factor as to whether you bridge for two seconds or bridge and hold, Rick
