hell of a lot easier to do it with the rad out of the way, for the sake of 2 plastic clips, some hose clips and lost coolant.... I know which way I'd go..

done it both ways....... rad out is quicker , but yep it can be done

done it both ways....... rad out is quicker , but yep it can be done

i have dnoe both too, but:
I have been a witness twice to a rad in water pump change on a t2 in less than 10 mins! including peing the bonnet!

it would take longer to take the rad out!

it takes me about half an hour, but if i were doing one for myself tomorrow, i would take the rad out flush the cooling system and change the thermostat and belts at the same time! Job done and no niggles in the back of you mind!
