 help I am leaking water think it is comming from the water pump does that mean a new pump?

if its definately the pump then yes no alternative!

but you can get a pump brand new for £60 and i takes about 30 mins to change, though i would chage the belts at the same time £3.50 each to be one the safe side.

Hi Willow,
Well, I had the same problem, tried all sorts to solve it but ended up buying and fitting a new pump, cost £56.00 plus vat from my local motor supplies place. Solved the water leak....... mind you, took the T2 to the outer hebrides and back with it leaking. I don't need to say what'll happen if the water all leaks out........
Job is quite easy to do, most difficult bit is working out how to take the rad out, there's a pair of hidden clips holding the bottom part to the plastic surround/rad mount. Apart from that, it's a matter of nuts and bolts....
Good luck....

you can change the pump and belts with the radiator still in place!

Had same problem with water leaking at the pump and it was definately the pump needing to be replaced. If that is your problem then like others said it's not an impossible job to replace the pump but must say it was more that a three hour or so job for me and I did need a bit of help with liquid gaskets, tensioning of belts etc. Needless to say I wouldn't be as experienced as a lot of others on the site at doing my own repairs.

Hope I didn't discourage you from having a go at it yourself. Do have a look at the download mentioned by jims-terrano as it does give an idea of what's involved. As already said it is mostly a nuts and bolts job, with a bit of water here and there. I just made sure that the evening we started the job I didn't have an urgent need to use the motor the following day in case it took a bit longer than expected. Glad I did the job though as its a good way to get into doing a few repairs.

hell of a lot easier to do it with the rad out of the way, for the sake of 2 plastic clips, some hose clips and lost coolant.... I know which way I'd go..

The trouble with me is I need the t2 evey day especialy this time of the year on the smallholding to be without it for 2 days would be a real headache so no time to have the pleasure of tinkering with it:(.
The download is really good I think even I could follow it:thumbs:lol
I hope to bribe the garage with a turkey :lol;)
