The garage that did mine took over a day each side and found it a lot more work than they thought it would be.
Kind regards
Russell.
I've got Y61 axles for my Y60 Stripped them down easy enough. Can't see the issue on rebuild :nenau
Well got the other side done today and it certainly feels a lot tighter:thumbs
Not been out of town to check for speed wobble but there was play in the main bearing and the bottom swivel bearing felt full of sand.
Just need to top up the diff oil tomorrow then change the rear LSD fluid for good measure as it don't seem to be as limited as it should:nenau
Yep, Still got the 40mph wheel wobble
think I will try new panhard rod bushes next:nenau
Had bit of play and wheel wobble at about 90km/h,seems the shims on the swivel housing bearings were causing the problem. After ordering new ones and getting thoroughly soaked whilst fitting the new direction bar I decided to look online about the shims.Went onto the Oz Patrol forum and found that removing the shims completely(only had one on each side upper and lower) or one from each bearing if more than one fitted cures the wobble.Duly attacked the task this morning, bottom ones a bugger to get off, removed shims, cleaned and regreased bearings and voila wobble has gone,a very happy bunny:thumb2
I have got a leaking diff seal so will be playing again at some point.
So, following on from a front brake in ballance where the nsf locks up a bit easy and pulls under braking I thought I would check for a sticky caliper.
If only....
Yep the leaky half shaft strikes again..
A bit of contamination on the disc an pads, still stops well due to the 50/50 weight distribution and the bigger discs on the rear.
Need to order some more half shaft oil seals and possibly new half shaft due to the localised corrosion where the seal sits.
Still 75% of awesome Troll is better than 100% green oval.
Job for the summer :thumb2
:lol:lol:lol:lol
Got to pull my finger out and finish my axle build soon too :augie
