leaking axle seal help

Hi all, just set about servicing my rear brakes ready for the dreaded MOT and found that the nearside axle seal seems to have quite a severe leak on it, can anyone tell me how easy or difficult the replacement of the seal etc is and what may be needed?

Its the seal or seals that sit behind the brake back plate on the end of the rear axle

Hi Stephen if you take a look at the download section you will find the instructions, written by "wilf" i followed them with no problems, try milners for the seals.

Hi thanks for the replies.

I think i was panicking over nothing, seems like quite easy task, i have ordered the seals from Nissan at £6 each (decided to do both sides whilst i am at it) and should pick them up in the morning and re-assemble the whole thing along with new shoes and wheel cylinders.

Be aware that the bearing might be the cause of the leaking seal. I had a seal changed by the dealer and 2 weeks later it was leaking again, because it was the bearing that had really gone.

rear axle seals

there easy to do my mechanic just done mine milners dont do them had to go to nissan they dont cost a lot but make sure you get the right ones
