VW Polo
yes a small car, cheap to run and insure. Wonder what he could use??
Hmmm, if only he could get his hands on such a vehicle

He could use 1300 quid for insurance AND lessons and test
Just a thought :lol
To big :augie
my thoughts too.
use the money on your terrano and don't spread yourself too thin.
or you will by a van,be skint again and when you get some more cash which one you going to spend it on:nenau
I'm taking the terrano off the road and keeping it in a shed as im going to split the body & chassis.....restoration project
Don't take this the wrong way, it's not meant in a nasty way but you're a loonball.
I admire your enthusiasm but you need to listen to people and accept that unless you're rather wealthy then at your age you need to concentrate on at most 2 things. Getting your licence and ONE vehicle that is suitable in evry way for a young man to run right now.
Running costs are the potentially crippling part of owning a vehicle. Insurance will be obscenely expensive on some of the things you mention. The vehicles you talk about are thirsty. Then there's road tax and tyres and oils and anything else that goes wrong.
Keep dreaming of 4x4s, vans and whatever, in time you will get there but for now consider a small, economical first car.
I think you could get an enormous amount of enjoyment from fixing up a slightly lowered K11 Micra (16Valve engine, rev happy, reliable, cheap insurance and will turn in 40mpg) with sum 15" alloys and a nice bit of stereo equipment. Best of all, it's doable and you might even have a little bit of spare time to work on the Terrano between driving around for hours in your k11 wiv your mates
I was naive at your age and I ignored all those who freaked out when I said I was having a Landy as my first car, but times were different then, it was possible to run that for me because I worked, I did sum really crappy jobs but I HAD to have those wheels so it didn't matter. The ugly truth is that if it was now, I couldn't do it, the government and insurance companies have seen to it that many/most young men just can't have anything like what they want to drive.
Prove me wrong by all means. I'd love to see you driving your restored Terrano and Big LDV, but I'm almost certain it won't happen anytime soon and if you really do keep buying all manner of vehicles then you just won't end up driving anything at all. You'll just be admiring your own car collection from your bedroom window.
Indeed, thing is, I'm going into a well payd job next month,
Sounds interesting Ryan, good luck with what ever you are doing.
There is some good advice here mate, it's not easy for youngsters to start driving (I have 2, not cheap), once you have your pass in your hand, then you will see what we mean...it's not cheap
nothing wrong with dreams and ambition my friend , in fact one of my favourite sayings is " the only difference between dreams and reality , is purely desire " :thumb2

Let's just see what life brings
