Well today I was going play at a pay event organised by Nort4x4 near Chesterfield
but it was suspended due to ammount of snow on the site. Some of the guys were
going to have a trip into the Peak district but this too was capped at last minute.

So myself and a mate Rob, also with a y61 troll but on 03 plate and auto decided
to do Houndkirk, from west to east, fox house to ringinglow. Ran into to trouble
almost straight away on first climb up from gate, drifts on the lane, I got past
on 3 rd attempt but Rob got stuck, so had to turn round and tug him back onto
drier ground, he had grounded on snow, despite rear locker and waffle boards.

Thats first time ever had to recover on a public lane!. Got past it eventually with
a better line to side of drift. rest was uneventful but very scenic. Bit of slush on
drop back down to ringinglow.

Tried to drive upto Stanage but snow on gradient defeated me, plan was to have
lunch at summit then come back down to sheffield side, not ready for the drop
into derbyshire quite yet. On way home did last part of houndkirk again but joined
it via the track along side lady cannings plantation, was nice and good to tick the
route off after 20 years of wondering! there was a bit of snow down to the cross
roads of houndkirk, might of been more fun uphill!

pix to follow.

try the link, you dont need to have a fb account, guess way of using fb
as a photo host, and attract new members??

thats a good point, why hasn't the club got a facebook page?

dunno several other forums i use has fb pages.

advantage is can keep in touch on a smart phone when opening full
web pages like this site arent practical, but pretty much all phones
have a fb app, or their mobile-web has a version.

thats a good point, why hasn't the club got a facebook page?

I used to run a Scuba diving fourm and a Motorbike fourm and i added a face book page to them both, the problem i found doing this is the post end up all over the place and you never know where to read.:nenau
People on facebook then tend just to post to the facebook pages and forget about the fourms.

IMHO, i wouldent do it again, stick to one place where everyone goes.:thumbs

agreed, got plenty of pals off here on fb, even group them in
my own err friends group.

many of those club areas drop off, shame though as smart
phones can pull up a version of fb easier than this full size
site page, for a local caranvan group i'm in i suggested
dropping main www. site and just using the fb version as
easier to get into out on our jollies...
