Come on, you gotta love it :naughty

Maybe I have missed it here a little :augie

There is a rumour that Defender drivers greet other passing Defenders with a friendly wave, this in fact is untrue. There are merely showing that their hands are clean, and they have not broken down yet.

:lol:lol

No, I disagree, it is established that if y=cm+x and §º¿ is parallel to the hypotenuse, then x must be equivalent to ¼ of ☺²

More than 50% of all Land Rovers ever built are still on the road so I am told.

The rest of them must have made it home :nenau

I have to say that the only motor that has defeated me completely on a breakdown was a late model Range Rover I owned around 2002/3 and had to be transported back home, and it took 6 weeks to fix it, and it was the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned, lovely to drive, air suspension but a nightmare to run, and! I got it bogged down in my yard, unbelievable, sold it for £12k,

No typo there...
y= mx+c which is the equation for a straight line.:thumb2

You will often find Land Rovers crossing Africa, that's because there are always plenty of broken down Land Rovers at the road side where you can rob parts from.:thumb2

Hmmm good point.

Rick!!! you kept that one quiet :naughty

Still 12k ain't bad :clap

They are cousins of the jaguars I see on a daily basis and have some bizarre things that can go wrong with em.

There seems to be a module for a module these days :lol even some 5 year old jags run in fiber optic cable with 7 module all in sync :doh

I wonder when Land Rover reliability started to take a nose dive? they used to be quite good, the Series IIA were ok.

Let me take a stab at it...
Maybe it is when they removed the starting handle after the series III

That probably coincided with ECUs and other electronics.
ok they had to improve the emissions, but at the expense of reliability.

I was speaking to a guy the other day, he had two pre computer controlled ECU versions of the discovery, no problems at all, no major bills.
He now has a later Disco... but old style, spent thousands on it, and he said he would never have the later ones, as you have to take the body off if you want to replace a brake pipe.

Had to, it was the most embarrassing and most expensive motor to run that I have ever owned, luckily it was registered in the Mrs name and she had AA cover, we were on the approach to Blackwall tunnel at the time with a very special needs baby on board heading for Great Ormond Street, Rick

Valid point I think, I had a `54 S1, a `64 S2, and a`77 airportable, a 300tdi Disco, no problems at all........works got a new T reg TD5 110 Defender, straight from the factory.......c##p.......:nenau

I think there's an error in the equation on the last but one line lol...

:lol

That's because there is no solution, except for having the sense to not buy one.
LOL.
I've always maintained that if the badge was replaced by almost any other brand then few would even consider buying one. It's all about selling fairy tales based on long gone products.

That is so true of many other products as well
