Okay guys,

Here are some pics of my key fob......

But at silly o'clock this morning, I had a thought, that my problem may stem from the fact that if I reset everything to 'normal operating status', I can only unlock the car on the key, which sets off the alarm....the only way I have of stopping it, is by starting the car, thereby cancelling the alarm......

So, when I try reprogramming the fob, the alarm system isn't necessarily 'reset' with the RF system.....that's why it may not reprogramme.

On rereading the downloaded instructions, it clearly states that the car needs to be opened by the fob......Mea Culpa....:doh

So I need to find a working 433MHz fob locally that will lock and unlock my car, then try reprogramming....

Does this make any sense to anyone.....:nenau:nenau

You should only require a key with your chip in for it to be re programme, but it may be your alarm going off is interfering with the procedure ?

If you unlock the car and insert the key straight away into ignition what happens ? (does alarm still go off)
If you unlock the car and insert the key straight away and start the car to disable the alarm then turn off but leave key in ignition, what happens ?
In both exercises all doors should be closed when trying.

I pretty sure Jim's idea will not work or anyone with a nissan fob would be unlocking nissans everywhere. Unless he means to test the fob on his motor to confirm fob is working correctly.

If you can sit in the car no alarm going of then reprogramming should work,

Procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds. (without turning over or starting)
2. Then turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. After 2 seconds, the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the remote key.
5. While still pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 key’s.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all remote key’s for operation.

So does that imply, that there is a subtle difference (subfrequencies?) between every Siemens alarm module, to avoid the potential for mass Terrano hijacking...?

I can then try reprogramming....yet again.

No sub-frequencies just each motor generates a unique code, just like the chip in your keys is unique to your immobiliser, and I hope Jim remembers to remove your chip from your key before trying on his motor

When you say 'chip', do you mean the one at the base of the key unit, in my case blue/grey, or the small board in the button fob...?

Yes in your case the blue/grey chip is for the immobiliser that is the unique identifier for your motor, mine is black, if you obtain a replacement Key with combined remote fob put your chip in the replacement, same goes if you want to make a flip key.

You can use most Nissan fobs of the right frequency once programmed with your chip. Or you can get a new chip which has to be programmed with specialist equipment.

You should not be able to start your motor if the chip is not present.

You can get them on Ebay, I had to replace them on several of our remotes.
