Another idea!

How about removing the rubber buttons from the case the rubber that covers the switches. Assemble the fob and then try to register the fob again. I’m not convinced that the cases don’t cause problems misaligning things and stopping both buttons working.

At least you have working keys without the alarm going off which is a work around for a few weeks.

I cannot see any unit that looks like a transceiver unit, with frequencies, adjacent to the steering column......so I am none the wiser in that direction.....Rick has a couple of spare fobs that, if I knew the frequency, may be useful.....:nenau
You will have to remove the panel driver side 4 screw & unplug any switches that may be on your version of truck, the majority on earlier models the unit is fitted to the let & down from steering wheel.

Hi guys,

Found myself with some spare time.....never according to SWMBO......:nenau

Checked the chip in the fob.....SIEMENS 979501a

Checked the unit in the car......433,92 MHz

On my car (2002) the transceiver is in plain sight to the right of the steering column, once you have removed the under panel (thanks Mav...:bow).....:thumb2

So.......Rick, if you have a chipset that equates to the above numbers, and you think will work, please PM me......

Again, many thanks for all the input......:clap :thumb2 :bow

The numbers inside the fob are meaningless other than all of the 418 Mhz I have are 24 and the one yet to be identified is 22, but that also could prove meaningless, I will try programming it to both cars, whichever one is successful will determine it's Hz, Rick

Been reading this, thinking what a pain it was, then tonight, we got back from Picking Reject up fromt he vets, and my remote would not lock Jiggley.. Eventually, after about 10 presses it locked the car... We went out later to get a commiseration Chinese Takeaway, and I could not unlock the car. We went back into the house, and picked up Suz's keys, and everything was fine.

I took it apart, and checked/changed the battery, but while the battery was fine, the remote still won't open or lock the car. I changed the switches a couple of years ago, and I checked them with a continuity meter, and they are working fine, so I guess mine has done the same as yours...

What a pain.

Clive.......so true......b####y pain in the rear......but at least I have silenced the horn by bridging the plug under the bonnet, and can use the key in silence to lock/unlock the car.......:doh

So did your replacement one work?

I was looking on Ebay, and someone is selling ones witthe same markings as Suz's, e.g. P/N: 979501A, is that what you went for in the end?

He has not got it yet Clive, I have several fobs but most are the 418 type only one of the 433 which I tested on my off road Mav and works could not find any meaningful numbers on the boards except all the 418's had 24 on them and the 433 had 22, Rick

Clive,
Rick is kindly helping me with the key fob issue, but the number quoted on the fleabay ad, is the same number that is engraved on my duff 433 chipset, if that is of any help....:nenau

Just had a thought John, as my fob is the older elongated oval shape and is NATS 2, if your later model is I suspect NATS 3 or later my NATS 2 may not work, anybody got any thoughts on that, Rick

I can confirm exactly what you just typed Rick.

I’ve tried ages ago so I have a spare oval plip from my original truck.

Rick,
Only got back a week ago, and been trying to sort the house out, and recover a bit.
I will be on this end of next week, down in Cornwall on some comms business for most of it.
John

OK guys,

I thought I should update this thread......sorry !

It is still a story unfinished....I have followed the download for fob reprogramming, but clearly remember that either Clive or Jim, sent me a detailed rundown on their reprogramming system.......sadly sorry I cannot find it anywhere :doh

I get as far as the double flash (ready for programming) but Ricks Mav fob has no effect, as does also another fob of similar description to my fluffed original.....I do not receive an acknowledgement flash on releasing unlock button......

I have disconnected the bonnet button and bridged the plug, so back to keyed entry into the car.......:nenau

Frustration is getting the better of me again......

Any further suggestions would be very welcome......

Thanks.
John :bow

OK lets start from scratch can you post a pic of your remote please.

What was happening with your old remotes.

I guess yours must be later than NATS 2 so I cannot help further, Rayf is your man but he has not been about much lately, Rick

Rick, thanks for that info.......did we settle up for your fob, or was it sale or return.....so much has been going on I don't know my a##e from my elbow at the moment..:doh.

Jim, thanks mate...I will tackle this tomorrow, shattered at the moment.....I will get pics sorted and posted.....
