Hi all,

I have a question. I've got this 2001 Terrano II 2.7 Tdi and got two keys. I found these keys actually trigger the alarm when the key blade is used to open the door. One key works on remote, the other is getting knackered which I suppose those two little button part needs to be replaced.

Anyway my question is, does this mean there's something wrong with the key blade - if so what can I do? Since I've read posts that Nissan dealers would charge quite a bit on these keys to be repaired, I thought I'd ask people here to see if there's any work around.

Thank you!

Mine does the same thing :thumb2

Nothing to worry about

Oh really? My partner didn't know this and I had a call from her being upset when she was trying to get things from the boot:doh As the buttons are very fiddly and I thought it's ok to use the keyblade if the buttons didn't work, but I found it a bit annoying when I'm an owner yet she started beeping when I open the door! If it's an easy fix, then I would want to try :)

Normal as the key doesn't turn alarm off until you turn ignition on. The buttons operate central locking and alarm.

Have you tried replacing the batteries in the remotes? You'll probably need to reprogram too but there's a nice little download on here for doing that.

I see, so that's the way it goes with Terrano then. Yes, I've replaced the batteries only a couple of weeks back. Will check out the download section.

Also check you have battery in the correct way round too.

Also with the download instructions you have to program both remotes one after the other.

As the little buttons on the board was broken on one of my keys, I have replaced them today. Been a while since I used the soldering gun;) But I haven't programmed yet - does this have to be done even though both of my keys are working? (Apart from their keyblades trigger the alarm)

Your key works the locks which is a mechanical thing, this sounds to be working. When you unlock the car using the key in the lock your alarm goes off until you put the key into the ignition and turn the ignition on. This means the little glass tube called a transponder is working just fine. Now the alarm fob or remote control is a seperate system, some times this is a seperate key ring and sometimes usually about 1999 onwards it is part of the keys handle. From what you have said you have replaced a switch on the remote control. Now follow the download to reprogramme the alarm fob. Fingers crossed it will work just fine now.
Well done soldering the new switch:clap

First thing I'd do is put it together and try it before attempting to re program. I've had one apart for a while and it still works when back together.
