Well, my old worn out keys have suddenly struggled to go in the barrel - both at the same time.

Almost like there are some loose bits in there :)

Managed to get a key in but reluctant to remove it right now.....

This has the fuel pump immobiliser on it, so what about a secondhand unit?

Any thoughts?

Can't you just change the tumbler cylinder?

It might be easier to get the lock out and put a new lock tumbler / barrell in - sounds like one of the levers & springs have broken in the lock cylinder.

Ahhhh..... Sounds about right.

Any howtos on that? Parts?

It's decades since I did that on an old Austin Mini Steering wheel lock. Someone here will be able to advise you where the release plunger is on a Nissan.

On the Austin I had to drill out some cast alloy flashing but most have a plunger release hole you can get at. Might be worth searching U Tube if no help given here.

A lot of Nissan models might share the lock barrel design so it might be available as NOS online. This is the first video I found it shows you some ideas. Many locks are held on with shear bolts but they can be removed pretty easily with a decent sharp small chisel on most vehicles.

Well, I got the old barrel off OK. Think I did the same trick years ago on my old Mini!

Hmm - next move? I could strip it down - not averse to that.

Both keys are old and worn though.

Any suggestions on next steps?

Another barrel - can I get one? Can Nissan do new keys if I refurb the barrel?

Nice and smooth and clicks through all the positions, the key doesn't slip out in POS I or II either like lots do

Cool & thanks!

Just trying to get some pix of my existing stuff to compare.

Different again by the looks of it mate :doh

Yours is manufactured by "Claurson" ??? Mine says Valeo but to be honest, when I remove the transponder, the barrel bodies and internals look similar :nenau

Not my year then :-(

I think they are probably the same though your transponder looks a lot thicker than mine. My keys have no wireless central locking though.

I'd probably just tape an old key to the transponder anyway - no one is going to nick this now :)

Want to PM me and tell me what you want for it?

Make a way to put the key inside that ring. Then start with a screwdriver on the ignition switch backplate. Could even wire up a switch. Not sure how you will fair with Spains MOT though?

Yeah, I can bodge it for sure. I did wonder about putting some sort of start switch & button arrangement in. Won't please my wife though!

Indeed. They tend to be real sticklers about some things we'd think are trivial, and don't give a damn about other stuff we'd be worried about.

So yes, it may be problematic.

Don't ever try and get a bloody tow hitch fitted..... !!
