Agreed and consider that with my going out a 5am point, I dont think many of the neighbours would be on very good talking terms afterwards :augie
When my daughter parked her car in the drive, I put a small fan heater in the car and switched it on from the house, 1/2 hour before leaving.

The residual heat in the car lasted just long enough before the interior heater started to work. Another advantage, no condensation.
The standard locks on the car thawed and worked as well.

A battery charger on trickle charge that connected to a bumper mounted pull apart connector made starting easier.
As she reversed the connector disconnected automatically. The things dads do :thumbs
Never failed to start on those cold icy mornings in the past.

If we are going to be super green what the heck are we doing driving these motors?

Good idea Dave, wish plod next door would buy as his Galaxy is about 8 feet away from my head at 5am:(

Hey as a bonus it might melt the snow from your roof:lol:lol:lol:lol

They dont warm the engine though do they?

they dont warm anything up except the lead, i bought one totally useless imho,

anybody want it, it's free just pay postage. :thumb2

i dont have this problem of being cold when i first get in the motor

i just switch the heater to full

eco friendly depends on your point of view, flue-gas gypsum making all that cement, all those oven baked bricks, all that co2 emisons fomr the build, and it would take a lot of garages for us to have one each :thumbs

Plank you have a very good point on what is ECO, if you get me onto the eco issues of wind power.........

I read somewhere that it will take over 25 years operation from a turbine to save the co2 emissions that were used to manufacture the turbine in the first place.

The service life of these turbines is less than 25 years.....:doh

So no co2 saving overall at all. :doh :doh

You could say this will be zero emissions after 25 years overall..
Looks good on paper.:doh

Still better than consuming all the fosil fuels.
We should plant more trees.

dave didnt jeep do a winter pack on the cherry

No idea. It has got a great heater/climate control (once I stick the new thermostat in anyway) heated seats, mirror & mirrors.

What Im after is engine prewarm the warm cabin is a bonus in some respects. Thats the reason the plug ins and what have you are no good to me....................especially after reading Tezzers comment !!

Good stuff :thumb2

Ive done the fan heater if i expect to be called out (i have about 20-30 min work to do before I leave the house), it makes a hell of a difference if i remember to switch it on :D:doh

Does anyone remember the 12 volt electric demisters you could buy, not those silver foil ones for the rear windscreen.

These were made from a strip of aluminium with a sucker at each end, and they had a little heating element along the length of the strip, they were about a foot long. They de-misted using radient heat and they cleared an area about 12 inches wide and about 2 inches high after an hour....:nenau

Not sure i'd get on with him :naughty

Dont laugh but ive been out in the past at 3 in the morning trying to scrape ice off the car quietly. Its one of those odd things you dont dont think about so you dont know what a pain in the arse it is until you have to try it :lol:lol:lol

getting back to these ceramic heaters, i reckon it would take 6 hours, 2 gallon of diesel to clear my transit screen, :doh

anyone want it????:nenau

yep treansit screens are huge! I use 'rain X' on the outside and demisting spray for motor bike visors on the inside, it works a treat. And Transit screens seem to get so steamy, must be all the condensation created by the bare metal in the back.
