it was fine the first couple of days but its gradually getting worse.not drove it since last wednesday as i dont want to damage the new clutch.was hoping to get started on getting the gearbox removed today but i had a task and a half getting the sump off the one i'm breaking so it was too late for me to start.
Just been quoted £300 all in from a lad who works at the ford main agents near us. 8O

good price

thats a good price.the garage i normally use quoted me £360 just to fit the clutch 8O .god knows what it would be if they supplied it :|
thats why i did it myself in the end.

box off

finally got round to taking the gearbox off again today  good news is it was the bearing housing not seating on the release fork.luckily it hasn't done any damage to the bearing or the housing.gonna tweak the spring clips before i re fit it and see how it seats.

dont know how garages can charge you what they do as it only took me 3 hours to remove it on my own.thats just with basic tools and no 4 post lift. :smile:my arms and shoulders are aching like mad though :( got the fun of putting it all back together tommorow(probably be slashing it down all day until i put the last nut and bolt in then it will stop :( )

noisy bearing

got it all put back together today and still got the noisy release bearing   the clutch feels a lot better and isn't sticking like before so think it must have damaged the bearing holder.no signs of external damage on the bearing or holder it spins nice and free with no roughness. :? thing is i binned the old one so i cant fit that one back on.looks like a new bearing and holder is the next step. :(

Hi could you let me have the details of your clutch people as i need a new one and your garage sounds very reasonable.thanks steve

had it fitted at a local garage for £250 but it had a noisy release bearing so i ended up stripping it back down myself to change it as the garage wanted another wad of cash to have a look at it.
