0n my t2 touring the clutch is to the floor some mornings when i get in the car i bring it back up and its fine all day following morning same thing any suggestions its a cracking car red over silver with lots of personel touches had it 4 years been great

Sounds like the master cylinder could be leaking - have you checked your clutch fluid? Could also be the pipes leaking, they are known for going porous.

well its all fitted now.just got to re fit the torsion bars(making note of how many splines i move them to get the lift correct)fill the gearbox, check the camber and get some pics done for hb.getting good at this gearbox removal thing  taking out the one from the 2.7 at the moment as ive got a guy picking it up tommorrow.

just re-fitted the gear lever after having the box out and there seems to be a lot of play in the gearstick.is there any thing i can adjust to take the play out?it gets all the gears fine but you can move the gearstick from side to side while its in gear.doesn't jump out of gear but just a bit concerned about the exessive play. :?

Don’t know if you noticed on the end of the gear stick where it fits in to the selector rail there is a plastic / Teflon bush, this can wear and need replacing or you may have lost it. The cup that the gears stick moves in is also plastic /Teflon and can also wear.

sloppy gearstick

thanks for the advice toolbox.the bush seems ok but i'm gonna swap it for the one off the t2 that i'm breaking(if it will fit)just to rule that out.

well i found the problem with the gearstick.it was the nylon cup inside of the gearstick housing.where the ball of the bottom of the gearstick sits it had worn away.took the circlips out and it fell to bits 8O .swapped it for the one off the dead one and all is fine now.

cheap and i suppose an easy fix.... like them we do... :|

i like cheap fixes also.thing is if you look at the big picture it cost me 2 grand as that what i paid for the other one(that im breaking)18 months ago. :?

theres time for that yet  cant complain really as i have made just over a grand selling the parts from the other one and ive still got a shed load of stuff left.
by the way do you still want that rubber mat that fits on top of the glove box?

Pm sent

took the t2 out laning this afternoon.first outing since new clutch been fitted.all was fine while i was out but when i got back as i reversed onto the drive i noticed there was a weird noise coming from the gearbox area.pulled on and off the drive a few times and it sounds like the release bearing.as i let the clucth out its making a buzzing noise.if i dip the clutch a few times it goes away.its a brand new bearing which came with the clutch kit.just hoping its just bedding in or it will be gearbox off again

noisy bearing

took the t2 up my local garage and let him have a listen to it and he says that it does sound like a dry bearing as you only get the noise as you press and release the pedal.now today the pedal has started sticking and making a clicking sound.had a look with the torch around the pedal area but cant see any cracks on the pedal box assy.have adjusted the pedal stop and free play to the manual and still no better.cant see any fluid leaks on the cylinders or pipes.starting to regret this clutch change but it needed doing.if it is a bad bearing will have to give milners a ring and see what they are going to do about exchanging it for a good one.unless any one has a magic tip for getting a smidge of grease on the release bearing without taking off the gearbox :?

box off

will have more time to do it now as i'm on a 3 day week at the mo  see the recession has its benifits

the saga continues..............spoke with a guy up at milners about the clutch problem and he says you can move the rubber around the fork arm and have a look with a torch to see if the bearing is seated properly.if i want to put in a waranty claim i will have to take it back to milners, then it will go to their claims dept and be looked at by an indiependant engineer who then decides wheather its a manufacturing defect or and installation issue.
in the mean time i will have to either re purchase a new clutch kit or take it off the road until a decision is made :|
they dont supply just the bearing only the kit.
wont know exactly what the problem is until the gearbox comes off.

had a chat with a tech guy from exedy the clutch manufacturer and he says the problem is most likely that the bearing housing that sits on the end of the release fork isnt correctly fitted.
they are held on with a spring clip but if there is not enough pressure on the clip it will move causing the noise that i'm getting as the bearing housing is moving.
apparently its a common problem on japanese 4x4 trucks when refitting the release bearing.
at least i know what to look for as he emailed me a couple of pictures to show how it should look when seated correctly.
didn't offer to come and remove the gearbox for me though
very helpful and explained it in plain english.

When we got this mav the pedal was the way yours is, took it apart and the spring on top was hitting the pushrod and making the pedal stick.

Paul.

sticking pedal

it was fine the first couple of days but its gradually getting worse.not drove it since last wednesday as i dont want to damage the new clutch.was hoping to get started on getting the gearbox removed today but i had a task and a half getting the sump off the one i'm breaking so it was too late for me to start.
