I'm a happy bunny!! :D ive fixed my truck (or so it seems) time will tell :sly

After truck washing it this morning and it making no difference I was a little upset really, I couldn't figure out why the poor terrano was doing this.

I then though back to many previous times when my power had become temperamental and low... I decided to to a few routine things to her, I also suggest you all go and do this now as you might find it makes a difference!! :clap

First off I took sweety's advise and I clipped and sprayed the cps block, to be honest it was shiny and clean anyway but what the hell, it cant hurt.

I then saw another block just like it, sitting next to another 3 infront of the intercooler, I thought "hey, what the hell" and used brake cleaner too!

Once I was done being super handy man with my brake cleaner :augie

I spotted the egr valve (or what I believe to be)

I have suspected this for a while since the truck began running weird.

Damn, if only I could get it off and blank it... Then I saw this little hose... So I removed the hose and sprayed a lubricant spray down it, once I removed the hose and clip with pliers I noticed a little gold valve that the hose pops onto, so I tried spraying a bit of spray inside the egr, it was then that I realised that a can of spray with the small tube actually fits inside the valve :sly :sly :sly

Needless to say the egr got the spraying of its life :lol

It was tight to get a spray can down there, dip stick in the way too.

Hopefully it has been down to dirty contacts & yes that's the top of the EGR I shoved a ball bearing into that vac pipe:thumb2

I then went for a drive, immediately once I got out onto the road I noticed the power was back!!! :D:D:D

Woohoo, fingers crossed it stays like this!!!

Also my fuel pump has dried up too as she only has diesel in her:lol

Alex I think you have nailed it at last.:thumb2:thumb2

The fault with your Terrano has been with a "dip stick" all the time. lol...

:lol:lol:lol

Ooh you bitch Rustic :kissy

I couldn't help that one...:lol

Yes those connectors need a good clean up, but I will give you some advice...
Don't be tempted to use any form of wire brush to clean the electrical terminals to remove corrosion, as you will short out the connections, putting 12 volts where it shouldn't be.

Years ago I had a glass fibre brush, in the form of a pencil, I used it to clean copper tracks on PCBs prior to soldering.

Briggie will probably know what I mean, this would be ideal for getting in there to help deoxidise the connections.
When clean, a good blob of waxoyl...
I did my tow bar connections like this... ohhhh it must be nearly 20 years ago now...:doh and they still work fine.:thumb2

I'll see if I can find one....:nenau

Edit... here is a refill for one anyhow on ebay... item No. 171444158982

I also had the brass version too, great for small rust spots.

Edit again, RS still sell them...

Hope it is sorted Alex, but do not think it will have been the EGR as the bit you stuck your cleaner in is only the vac actuator, it is the valve on the manifold that sticks open and your cleaner will not have got any way near it, no the problem was the plugs and sockets that had poor connections, Rick

I did really give it a heavy spraying, and also down the hose too :nenau it was all guess work. I also sprayed the gold thingamajig on the side of the intercooler too :nenau:nenau:nenau
