hi anyone out there had any problems with their terrano that it loses power, when the ignition is turned off and on again it fires into life again for a short time, seems to happen on hills and small inclines turbo checks out ok diagnostic check has not come up with anything yet, hope not to put into nissan dealer due to possible cost involved, I would appreciate any ideas or thought to sort this, cheers

mm interesting...

very intresting.

ill say MAF

if you can get another one to try and it works great, if no change you'll have a spare one..

Had a problem with some similarities when it came to losing power especially on hills. It was the air flow sensor/meter and the fuel pump was also repaired. There was supposed to be a mechanical problem with the fuel pump although I am not sure if it was necessary to have the fuel pump done.

Fuel?

May be fuel filter bit sh1tty. May be fuel pump OK working on level but when going up a hill it struggles with the hill and through the system.

Is it OK tanking down a straight?

But then what do I know I cant even mend me own truck!!

i had a problem a bit similar. the cat had died and the internals were lose. when going uphill they slid to the back causing too much backpreasure as the gas wouldnt be able to pass. £280 later we were running again:D

sounds like the MAF, easy to clean I cleaned mine to day took about 10 mins, of course it could be broken. Pull out the the plug and try driving it with it disconnected, if its no worse then that could be the answer. an easy test. regards.....bri

PM from oorwullie61

hi took the beast to bits and took out the bolt with filter , thing is there was no spring like yours and the filter was jammed inside the bolt, the filter was clogged with years of crap, only way to get it out was to destroy it do you think i will need it it seemed to come fixed into the inside of the bolt, i had something similar on my m/cycle and removed that no harm done so far, really appreciate the help, as its doin my head in as you can understand, if this does not work i am afraid its the dealer possibly.

cheers

well it does need a filter i'd say - nothing to stop him putting a non-standard one inline somewhere so long as he keeps an eye on cleaning it sometimes?

did it fix his problem though?

terrano mesh fuel filter

never sorted the problem by removing the gauze from the pump bolt, but after trying a few other things electrical, the beast from the east is up and running as normal, thanks to all who replied to :clap my q's,
