Thanks for the offer Rick unfortunately I managed to get the part number off it last night..... Its a Bosch! Theres one on ebay for £200, apparently its off an 80k write off. I think I may have to just take a chance on it.

Thanks for the number I left a message with Mike this morning but in the mean time had an offer accepted on the one on ebay for £175 the seller said it would have a 30 day warranty if i got it fitted at a garage, which I'm unlikely to do but at least it shows they are prepared to offer a warranty on it. It should arrive by the weekend so I'll have a go at fitting it then. I've seen a previous thread about swapping one over so I'll follow that carefully. Thanks for all your help. All the best. John

Which thread was that mate? You got the link or remember who it was by?

Here's the thread for the injector pump swap

Ouch indeed I thought £175 wasn't bad considering some of the prices on ebay. I guess that's one of the dangers of ebay though, there's lots of stuff very accessible but at price.

Still its loosing me a lot it being off the road so sooner I can sort it the better.

Oh that's my thread :lol I thought there was a better one somewhere that I'd not spotted :lol

I'll sort the pic links

Sorry I didn't realise it was your thread. Theres a lot of good info on it. Did your pump work ok once you got it swapped?

Cheers for sorting the pic links out it makes things more understandable!

Not done it yet :lol :lol

I've not even started the strip down and seal replacement that I've got the bits to do now.

Ha oh! Theres a load of pictures on that thread that i can see now that i couldn't before so I assumed thats what you meant. Good luck with the strip down&re build.

The job is simple enough, the problem is to keep it clean, the smallest bit of grit that gets into a pump will kill it dead, be warned, Rick

So I managed to get the new fuel pump fitted a few days ago but I've been struggling to get it running. Initially I left the facet pump on so help get the air out&the car started and ran but a little rough. I then removed the facet pump and the car started but ran rough. While it was running i cracked the injectors until there was diesel coming out of all 4, i left it ticking over for about 15-20 min and it sounded good thinking I'd fixed it i put the intercooler back on and turned the engine off to put 5L of diesel in to get me to the garage, went to turn the key&it wouldn't start & hasn't started since!

I'm convinved there must be still air in there somehow, might there be an air lock in the pump somehow? Also i noticed a bolt in the middle of the four injector outlets on the fuel pump&wondered if this was for priming the pump so i might take that out today&pump the manual filter and hopefully prine the fuel pump?

does sound like air in system did you check for mini filter may be dirty on new pump?

Air or NATS, most likely air, crack the injectors again , if you get fuel then it has to be air.

Is it def timed right? Was everything marked up before removal?

dont undo the bolt in the middle of pipes.yes air took me a battery to get mine all clear then ok.well done.he couldnt get timing wrong if lined up zaz marks, any small timing will be took care of bye ecu.

Yes timing will be perfect mine had 2 zs on the ip gear and one on the engine gear so i was very careful it was all lined up as before.

Panel beater when you say it took you a battery do you mean one charge or you knackered a battery through running down and re charging? Thats pretty much where im at a full charge on the battery only turns the engine about 20 times then dies

Ive checked the mini filter for dirt only to find it was missing. I'll replace the bolt with the one from my old pump which has a filter.

I'll try carcking the injectors and turning it over again.
