I went to buy a couple of rear tyres on Saturday and as I pulled up to the fitting bay, I noticed two fitters with their head and hands deep under the bonnet of a SWB Land Rover Pick Up.

Once one of the tyre fitters (who must be the lowest on motoring services evolutionery tree) took the time to notice me, he grunted and gestured for me to pull up to the vacant fitting bay. As you do, I then asked for the cheapest tyres they had, for which I was quoted £79.99 each fitted. Upon agreeing I was dismayed withthe gorilla like fashion that he pulled the wheel centre off, and how he managed to break the lugs off it at the same time. Being an easy going type of bloke I joked 'careful mate it isn't a Land Rover'!

At this point he seemed to take considerable offence by telling me in no uncertain terms that the Terrano wasn't a proper off road vehicle and that it had many design faults and loads to go wrong with it. I reminded him that it was him up to his elbows in his Land Rover and not me, and that the Terrano was generally recognised as being a fairly capable off road vehicle.

Anyway I went to pay for the tyres and they appeared to get confused over what I had been quoted, and I ended up paying £59.99 a tyre. Under the circumstance I felt justified in letting this slide. I now feel like I have been the victim of Land Rover snobbery :).

Regards

Defo landrover snobbery there mate, ive owned 3 classic rangerovers in the past and all of them cost me the earth to keep road worthy. Dont get me wrong i like landies but how often do u see jap 4x4's broken down. I drove past a p38 rangeposer other day, it was all blinged up with huge rims and rubberband tyres etc and i had to smerk as he was looking very sheepish cus it had broken down :lol:lol

Yeah i'd love a Landy but simply cannot afford the running costs...

Biggest snobs you'll ever come accross too. Number of Land-Rover owners that have said "he'll never get that through there" or "that wont make it up there" at events i've lost count of...

Love making them eat their words afterwards :D

And love their faces even more when I then say "go on then, lets see you do it in yours..." :lol

actually i have to disagree, most of the land rover owners that i have met (ok not many lol) have never really had a bad thing to say about the mav or the trooper when i have been out with landy owners they always tell that the motor i have is quite a capable 4wd

That's cos they know there is someone there to help them when they get stuck!!!!1:naughty:sly:thumb2

I am a member of an air rifle club on the grounds of a shotgun shooting ground, so plenty of posh nobs walking around.

As i was loading my stuff into the back of my terrano a posh bint walked past signalled to my terrano and commented to her accompanying nob "that's nice".

"Oh that" he replied, "that's a poor mans Land Rover".

Then he got into his freelander:lol:lol:lol

What a plick.

Go to a livestock auction and have a look what the farmers have parked outside with cattle trailers on....
