What's up with yours?

If you can use a soldering iron you can most likely fix it yourself, they suffer dry joints, ie vibration/heat flex tween the tracks on the board and the pins, just solder them all with a light dab, Rick

i tried the soldering iron fix on mine, but still no joy. add that to the fact that all three of the damn bulbs are blown, and im starting to look for a new cluster too :(

I have to do the display in the one I just bought. I think I have read somewhere else that you can buy the lcd separate and it's possible to change it. Will keep you posted.

that would be god if possible mate :thumb2

Ok.

Stripped out the dash and had a paly.

Sorry no picture of my before. forgot :nenau but basically you could not read anything but you could see some of the lcd was working.

I took the hole back away from the enclosure and this happened.

had a look over the solder joint's on the rear and it all looked ok so popped in back onto the enclosure all working.

The END ........ lol not really. :naughty

After carrying on with some other work I notice my milage had dropped from the 127772 down to 1772. took a look at the rear and noticed the solder joints on the lcd where indeed broken.

Took it Home to solder up.

Got my camera out and took a look using a macro lens.

And proceeded to solder up the pins. considering earlier when i first looked and it i could not see these brakes i decided to do every single post.

This shows the red you could see was broken and the green you could not see but when i checked them with a meter they had no connection.

even after soldering them all one never took so you got to double check.

Finally all done plugged it in today with no problems.

.

nice work and pictures:thumb2
something i have been putting off doing on mine but getting to the point now where my display is all or nothing.

You need a steady hand and small solder iron. all in all including taking it out ect it did not take very long. 1 to 2 hrs max

Also found having it stood up and not laying on its back made the solder take a lot easier if that makes scene. Or the solder tends to drop through the board.

Cheers for the advice :thumb2 a job for a Sunday afternoon I think .
