Hi trhere does anybody know if the first injector (number 1) is coded or is it interchangable????.

Asking as my mav has developed a fault in the form of when sitting still if I rev the engine then let the power off suddenly the engine cuts out. ANY IDEAS ??????????

First off the injector is not coded to the engine, you can perform a basic circuit check on it by disconnecting it and checking the resistance through the lift sensor in the injector, it should be approximately 105ohms
If the result is ok you can try swapping the wires to the injector around this can be done by pulling the coloured tab out of the parted plug and then swapping the wires in the plug.

How do you think it’s the injector have you had/read any error codes?

just that we have just put another engine in and the new engine came with injectors allready in. management light is on so gonna get it plugged in to see what it says over the next couple of days.

There is a download with the procedure of how to read the codes without the need of any specialist equipment.

Just go to quick links above and click on workshop downloads.

Did your new engine have the fuel pump fitted?

I ask because there are two systems used on the 2.7tdi bosch and zexel the injectors are different.
I also had a big problem with my engine cutting out it turned out to be a faulty air filter my engine is very fussy on air filters I was told by nissan that I needed a new maf sensor or fuel pump and while they were testing it they found out by accident it was a air filter problem.

we kept the orriginal pump of the car as was told that it was coded and needed to be kept.
The injectors looked the same visually but never thought to check!. the car has not been looked after so will put a filter in today and try that. Thinking about it though the maf sensor is actually being held in by tape so thats another good place to start and will try to source another.

Thinking about it I did get told that the injectors are dependant on the engine code (hence the reason I never thought to check them) does the make of the injector match the manufacturer of the maf????????????????????

no the later engines with the bosch maf will have bosch injectors but the earlier hitachi maf can have either but i have always found that they are zexel but the injectors will be matched to the pump

the engine that came out was the same as the one we fitted which was the later 1997 onwards td27ti not td27t

Its not that simple Im afraid the td was the mk1 they then made the mk2 from 12/96 until the 10/97 this was the first of the round headlamp models and had a hitachi/bosch engine managment system then they made the mk3 which went over to a all bosch engine managment system. I have seen the mk2 on a t reg as it must have been old stock sat at a dealer

oh dear well I better hope that little snap-on hand held gives me somat to work with then.

Goes like steam train otherwise

so can someone tell me how to find out what mine should be running on???

The Injection pump should have the make and part number stamped on the square section on the side of the pump body looking out from the engine.

Can you not look at the one from the new engine and the one from the old engine and see if they are the same?

Its not a case that you have damaged the speed sensor in the top of the bell housing or forgot to connect it when fitting the engine, that is giving you the problem is it?

just bridged the data link and it has bought up vehicle speed sensor as a fault so i presume thats the one your talking about !!!!

well now comes the funny part and I have just checked and the codes it bought up was 13, 18 and for some reason 95, 97 whatever they are. So not sure where I got the sensor part from must have been making it up!!!!!!!!!

Never the less i followed instructions, erased the codes and ran the car round for a while and had no trouble since but to be honest I am just waiting for the light to come on again so can tackle it.

Just for the record
97 is MIL- circuit malfunction

but still 95 is a mystery
