Hi
hoping someone can help.
the mil light came on a few days ago i got round to reading the code today it comes up with code 34 needle lift sensor.
can someone point me in the right direction to fix this?
its a 2.7tdi 1999 model if that makes any difference
Thanks in advance for your help

right mate, im not 100% sure if the 99 is the same injector-wise as my 97, but the needle lift sensor is built INTO the No1 injector, so, its a new injector im afraid, £170-£230 from Nissan, or risk a used one from a scrappers for about £50 ish (I paid £190, but there are different types, so yours might be cheaper)

it is a diy job though, and I wrote up a guide if you want it (its basic, but easy to follow).

do the early 1994 terrano have the sensor fitted in number one injector or is it just in the later ones? Laurie.

just the later ones dude and they are more expensive as a consequence! The early models are much simpler, I often wish I had one, but i love my bonnet scoop too much!

thanks for responses

Clivvy can I have a link or a copy to the guide please

or take /send to (01509 633315) tt autos did my diesel pump.they quoted around the £100 mark for no1 injector but cant remember.mine came up with needle lift sensor they tested injectors for me all ok.trouble with nissan unless you got the correct software / hardware, you wont get the correct codes mine turned out to be pump cos previous owner ran on used cooking oil. be worth taking injectors to a diesel specialist to test. whats your symptoms

is the MAF ok? PM me your email, and i will mail you the doc tonight when I get home buddy

I had a reading of needle sensor lift when my engine light came on. It was the maf on mine that needed replacing. Good as new and off like a bullet again now!

i had one with a bonnet scoop to but got rid of it as it reminded me of my belly:lol Laurie.

yes, one to be very wary of, our cars can throw "rogue" codes often due to multiple issues where perhaps each one doesnt have a specific code. I'd give the maf a very good clean, or borrow a working one to rule that out.

Thanks for the help

I think I'll get a new maf for starters and see where that gets me

got a new maf today installed it took it out for a spin mil light stays on after a couple of miles started pulling like it use to plenty of grunt.

the mil light is still on and still showing code 34 injector needle. do you think this will need replacing or do i just need to drive it about a bit?

did you clear the codes?? if not, clear the codes first, go for a spirited drive, if code 34 returns, then its probably accurate

Sorry for being ignorant, but when i have seen all the threds that talk about codes, do you need a machine to read the codes or do the come up on the dash? or do you plug in a laptop? and how do you know what they are.not had a modern terrano. used to a hammer and ajustable spanner to fix:lol Laurie.
