I couldnt agree more

I'm really bricking it that i'm throwing away a job even though i dont see the cash at the end but i'm not happy

So next year i will be starting my own business & work to live not live to work

Plus if i have nothing she cant take nothing

The keywords in this are "work to live not live to work ":thumbs:thumbs:thumbs The only reason I do the euromillions is that I would like to add a little sunshine to a few close people who have helped me when I had nowt, (not that Ive got a lot now)and would like to be able to quote the following "Tommorrow if I wake up it would be so nice to do what ever I want too" Once youve had everything then what else is there to get!!!
At the moment "I work when I need to" which is also nice

And I joined this Site cos I wanted Info on My Terrano and so so much has come from that, thanks guys you have made my day, Rick

I wish my life was simple!!! I just had the wife nagging at the amount lecky we are using. She got one of those smart meter things that tells you what you are currently using. I just had to go around switching things off and then she buggered off to bed. She moaned at me until I got the security light working in the back garden, now I've just had to go unplug it in the garage. The fridge was running away so there aint a lot i can do about that. Best I could get to was 585 watts, with no heating, no telly and little lighting. One of the kids will have their telly on im sure.
So this meter has far from made life easier it's made it bloody worse!!!!

Rick I'm not sure what you do down there but if it's a simpler life than mine I'm gonna move in next door to you:doh

Well we are not on the grid for a start, we generate our own electric with diesel gen set, solar panels help, as does a water wheel, we store power in a bank of full traction batteries, our water comes from a spring which is filtered and fed into an 8000 ltr tank, and we have a composting toilet, as for next door the nearest you could be is 300 to 400 mtrs and no available spaces, Rick

i got potential for a water wheel .... but how to make electric ????????

how about wind ???

please

Wind is a waist of time, water well it depends on how much you have and the head 10,000 ltres a day and a head of 10 ft will be just about usable, it might just run a 100 watt light bulb with a 10 ft wheel , Rick

Bloody hell Rick youve got the job licked, fair play to you fella, its a pity we aint all got your patience, intuition and drive to do the above, Well impressed, ever thought of running the diesel gen set on an alternative fuel???? good on ya mate :thumbs :thumbs :thumbs

No need as red derv is 55 p ltr at the mo, but the 1975 twin air cooled Lister runs on 50/50 derv/old engine oil when I have it, Rick

what about a nice stream . i was thinking you could use the electric bit off a generator throw the engine away and run a drive shaft to a wheel turned by water ????

an old 5kw genny would give me a few lights wont it ?

Next time you are down you will have to have a look at my water wheel, you missed it last time, it is 10 ft diameter and drives an old land rover gear box backwards (set in low) then it drives some pulleys and belts to get the speed up to 300 rpm for the permanent magnet alternator on the end, works great when we have some rain, Rick

Never occurred to me before Rick, but I'm guessing that a registered smallholding ought to be eligible to use red diesel?:nenau

Do not see a problem, as long as it is used for Heating/Power generation perfectly legit, but don't buy it in 45 gallon drums, you need a tank and purchase 1000 ltrs at a time, but there is no official checking, when I bought my first load the driver was only interested in the quality of the tank and cos we are near a stream was it bunded (which of course it was) I might add that although most oil CH systems run on kerosene most boilers can run Derv (gas oil) with little modification so any oil household can have red derv in their tanks, Rick

Tank not a problem...but wondering what cost benefit is with heating? Heating oil seems to be around the same price as red diesel so by the time you've paid to have your boiler modded and connected your red diesel tank to your system you're out of pocket surely?
