That could work, I'll have to see if I have any more ply. Don't forget to stick up photos. :)

The bed has been modified as the top half was too hard and I had a very uncomfortable night a couple of weeks ago. I think I'll stick with the ply as it is without adding to its thickness as it gives a nice amount of spring.
A quick test and it seems to hold my weight and is very comfortable.

The original top of the box was removed and replaced with batons.

And the final piece of the puzzle was to get access to the space between the box and wheel arch.

The final, final bit is being able to open it up without piddling around. :)

Brings a new meaning "to making your own bed" lol...

A couple of inches of memory foam on top of any cushion material is a great help too.

Rustic

Good call rustic, see if you can get a memory foam topper for a single bed.

We got a memory foam topper for the boat... can't remember where we got it from though..:doh
:lol

They are expensive, but worth it, adds to the insulation too.:thumb2

This is the worrying bit.... :D
I'll have a look for some this week, cheers.

Thats a good bit of development!:bow

Insperational to other owners who may want to sleep out in their motor for a night or two.
Well thought out.

Mines off the road until next week so going to have a good measure up over the weekend of my boot as I really want to fit in a raised floor with draws

I hope you're not thinking of a quick and cheap solution, this stuff is addictive. :sly

Well I do like to do things on the cheap if I can:lol but I do like working with wood. It'll have to be built in 3 sections rear 2 will hold a draw each & the section behind the rear seat will hold my sub box & amp which will have protective covers so the whole raised floor can be used

Have a nose for ideas in here, http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/9034-Post-up-your-drawer-storage-system.
I can get lost for days in there, it's brilliant what people have done.

Legs almost completed, I managed to find someone to make the two piece legs that look the part. The coach bolts are for testing only, once length is sorted we'll be getting them made properly.

Photos of it mounted when it's warm enough to gou outside. :)

Well that took a while.
Here's some photos of the barbecue fitted. I've managed a few longish journeys and it seems to be holding up.

The legs are used to support the bowl through the spare wheel. They need to be a bit shorter in order to allow a better locking system which is currently lock nuts and a bit of cabling to prevent absolute disaster if the coachbolt give up.
Ultimately with shorter legs, the wheel should sit flush to the wheel and give me space to store the tripod and grate in there.

Looks good, if you ask me and it works very, very well. Throw on some charcoal for a barbie, then chuck on some logs afterwards for a warm evening. It was used to heat up a fuel can's worth of water for a shower, so even earning its keep in the mornings.
:)
Even gets plenty of comments an nods of approvel from campsites when people figure out what it is. :clap
