I'm still having a mare regarding the table and haven't come up with a decent solution yet. A bit of nice weather wouldn't go amiss in order to set things up to see how it all functions.

How about a table that hooks over the rear wheel should be around the right height when sitting in the awning

Unfortunately the awning room sits over both wheels that would prevent that, but worth looking at for just the awning.
I finally fitted the base and the two slide out sections yesterday (photos to follow).

But today, in between showers, I replaced this:

A much more aesthetically pleasing light with the benefit that I can swing it out to work as a light over the cooking area.

All the wiring is on show at the moment until I live with the build for a while and decide what I need connecting and what I want; then it's on to project leisure battery.

I've still got to make the new bed platform which, if it works, should be the bit I'm most impressed with.
Tie down need to be sourced.
Water pump is ready for installation.
I've found someone who should be able to make the barbecue bowl for a reasonable, but still not cheap, price.

And it should all be ready for Christmas... :doh

Bits all bolted together and all set up while the sun is shining, and here it is. I don't like the rear awning as it is. I'm not sure whether to spend money on adapting it or going for a made for task rear awning.
The tent is only a single skin and has gaps on the car side, not a problem in the summer but potentially a problem in the winter. You could, although, put a pop-up tent inside for a bit of extra protection.

Table sort of works but could be improved. Using the tripod from the barbecue for resting post food drinks. The new barbecue make an excellent firepit for keeping warm on the chilly British evenings.

Access from the car to the tent area and I could make a table that attaches to the rear wheel. I will investigate this.

All I need to do now is find an extrusion for the second awning. Unfortunately the guys that sold me the outfit negleted to tell me that you can't have the tent mounted at the same time as the second awning eventhough this was something I specifically asked for. Fortunately I have found these guys http://www.keder-rails.co.uk/ who should be able to help me find a more suitable extrusion. Or a zip.

Everything packed away nice and tidily, except the barbecue. Fortunately I have a plan. All in all it took about 10-15 mins to put away.

Biggest problem is that the bed only measure 170cms long and I'm 183 cms. I have a solution but need to find something to do with the extra pieces when not being used as a bed.
The restriction in length is due to the length of the bootspace and the fact I don't want to remove the rear seats. This is supposed to be removable when not required leaving the car unmarked.

Just sorting a couple of glitches and sorting out the fixings. But I'm happy, very happy with it.

I did warn you about setting expectations nice and low to avoid disappointment.

I'm well pleased with how it has all worked out and a neighbour, who's been watching progress, is quite impressed with how it all works. It takes seconds to open up and seconds to pack away.

The barbecue was tried this week and works perfectly as a barbecue, then thow on a couple of logs and it's a damn fine firepit to sit around as the evenings are getting cooler.

Time to look at getting away for a weekend.

At the moment the upper part is hard as there is no give. This is going to be changed but I haven't worked out how yet. There's a couple of ideas that I'm working on, but be sure there'll be photos when I find the answer.

It is indeed, but there's too much flex at the bottom half that's putting too much strain in the middle and risks breaking. Still a work in progress, but we're getting there.

The idea is for no other support, which is why the weakness is a problem. Please share your ideas, it'd be interesting to see what you come up with.

I think having the top and middle plywood thicker would help, But there could be a few others ways I guess.
