Today we picked up my Christmas present... Actually I think it might be my Christmas pressie for many years to come...

I have to say that my cheeks ache from all the grinning I have been doing today... When I had My V70, it was a great car, full of Gadgets, but this one is almost futuristic with all the things it does...

Mind you, it will take me about a week to read the manual, it is an inch thick, and all in English, then there is a second one, the same size for the audio system!!

Nice, I like the colour too. Is that model still Mercedes underpinnings?

That's very nice, very well done, love the colour too......:thumb2

Wow!

That's a bit newer than you were looking at earlier and it's looks great. As others have said, the colour is really nice too :thumb2

Damn, I'm really falling for jeeps. I'd love to own one one day.

Cheers Guys, I am so pleased with it.

In the interests of full disclosure, we were looking for T2, Patrol, Land cruiser, and the Jeep. We did look at the Pathfinder as well for a bit, but that was out of the running early, I just can't remember why now.

T2's were all looking long in the tooth in both mileage and rust. I think you need to be looking for a long time to find good ones now.

Patrols either had more holes than Suz's colander, or proclaimed to be "the best example ever", but when you checked their MOT history, had been suffering from major under body rust for the last 5 years. One went from 6 rust failures and about 10 advisories for rust on one day, to a perfectly clean MOT 2 days later!! Yeah Right!

Land Cruisers, basically, Suz did not like the shape, especially once she saw the later Jeep

While doing my research, I found that a 2011 Jeep is in a cheaper tax class than a 2005 T2, and also found out that the insurance was less than my T2, even with wanting to modify it, so it made the searching a lot more fun, especially when the boss said I could spend a few more pennies if we could find a good one that was not Silver, Black, or the dirty grey/brown colour. I think she thought she had set me an impossible task.. :lol:lol:augie.

Hopefully Suz's T2 will stay with us for a good while, as she loves it, and it goes without saying, I have a huge soft spot for it.

Nice looking Ferret transporter. I recently found myself in a similar situation, the T2 is a good truck but as you say most are getting long in the tooth now.

Jeep WK2 nice, nice, nice but I am biased!

Hi nice looking Jeep welcome to the Jeep owners section!
If like ours it has TPS monitoring it also monitors the spare wheel pressue!

Fiat Power Train ?

Thanks...

Yes, it's based on Mercedes-Benz's W166 series, with a 3l Fiat Power train.

I am confused is it not the MB engine like our WK series?

Cheaper VEL band might be due to cleaner engine, if it is a Fiat Engine then that might mean no issues with the induction control units that MB set into the V of the block.

I drove a slightly older one, a Grand Cherokee Overland. I found it a very comfortable car but felt for RHD they decided the handbrake could stay LHD. :nenau I hope you like the radio and navigation system that's fitted if it's all in one, we had lots of hassle fitting a replacement as it's integrated into the CAN bus system. Being a cheapskate he bought an all singing and dancing replacement from a car boot sale and we eventually had it all working, even a reversing camera. Only one thing we never fixed was the dashboard would default to German language every time you started the car! :lol

There seems to be a bit of confusion when you search online. From what I can see, there is the MB 3.0l, like in yours, then there is another 3.0l, put in the American cars, and finally this 3.0l was developed by Fiat, specifically for the European Jeeps. I might be wrong though. I decided to go for what Wiki said. Generally it has good reviews, as long as you don't read the ones where they are seem to spend the entire review comparing it to the latest Lamborghini/Army Tank/etc.

On this model the "Hand Brake" is actually applied and disengaged with your foot. Only thing is, being an Automatic, they have put the "parking brake" pedal where the clutch would be.. Fortunately, it is a lot higher, so no close shaves... Yet!!!..

The built in system is by Alpine, and I have to say, not only does it sound fantastic, there are speakers everywhere, and a 10inch Base in the boot, but is so intuitive to use. It has voice recognition for the whole system, Navigation, Phone, Radio and CD, plus Steering wheel controls, and the touch screen as well. Unless something goes wrong, I can not see any reason to change it, so hopefully will not hit those issues.

The only thing that is a bit disconcerting is, not only does it have a reversing camera, but it has proximity sensors all around it, so when it pings, you have to look at the dash board to see where it thinks you are too close. The front ones work when driving as well, so the other day, over at Thurrock, we had some moron decide the arrows that help everyone drive round the car park the same way, did not apply to him, and my car started Pinging, as it decided he was too close. :doh

Have to say, after looking at Autotrader for this part, a few nice specimens.

3.0 CRD Overlands, 79k - 125k FSH at what seems a reasonable price, very highly spec'd and good overall condition......

Very tempting indeed.....

I know...heresy......but got to be pragmatic about T2's.....:nenau

Looked at a couple of Overlands, but the suede on the seats seems to wear very prematurely, looking very scruffy. Preferred the look of the leather on the Limited. I am actually RTFM'ing at the moment, keep finding extra features. Just discovered the rear glass on the boot can be opened separately like the T1 had.

At this rate we will have to ask Bat21 to add a Jeep section to the forum for all us that like it here... lol
