hi, behind my '03 terrano wheel centre cap are six nuts on studs. one of these nuts is missing and the stud has very little thread left on it. can i just mole grip this stud out to replace it? also, to get it out, is it clockwise or anti clockwise? ive looked on the download section but they seem to be allen headed bolts used. cheers, mike.

If you are talking about the front wheels, then there should be 6 Allen headed long HT bolts that hold the free wheel hubs in place. These do not have any nuts on them, and just undo in the normal manor with a long Allen bolt.. (Long because they are tight)

The other thing there, is the 6 wheel studs, which hold the wheel in place. These are a press fit into the hub from the rear, and use and flange and wedge shape to stop them pulling through, and splines to stop them rotating. Normally, you just take the hub off, belt the end of the damaged one with a lump hammer, and it pops out the back, then insert the new one, and tighten it up by putting a spacer over it, then doing up the wheel nut.

defo not the wheel studs, they are the hub retainers(from what i have seen in the download section) but are all stud and bolt
thanks, mike.

erm, i will pop a pic on later...... :lol:lol
ive just done a quick look on ebay and my hub doesnt ressemble any shown on there or here ?????

Are these the 6 bolts that hold the brake disk to the hub?
These are normal right hand threads.

no mate, these are approx 12mm nuts on studs :nenau is it an import thing?
both sides are the same btw. thanks, mike.

Yours is later model without locking hubs so what you desribe is correct
ah, thanks, i was a bit worried someone had bodged something else on for a bit!
do you know if these studs simply unscrew? and if so which way? many thanks everyone, mike.

They will just be normal right hand thread.should unscrew but im not 100% sure best thing is lock 2 nuts together and try and wind them out

thanks for help, not much thread on so i may well have to weld a nut on
i suppose the non locking hub is inferior to the locking one, as in it will just spin independently when traction is lost? thanks again. :thumb2
