Toying with several ideas and wondering what mines worth.

T2 SE Touring R reg 2.7tdi 148k

T&T till July

well, i'd have thought between £1200 and £1600 ish, there abouts.

I know nuffin about cars jim , but yours is a nice looking truck , even saying that id have thought for a r reg summat like £1200 ......£1300 ish

Aye, £1200 ish

But it really depends what a punter is willing to pay if its tidy and he likes it :)

Well I've seen worse that's for sure. Parked it up this evening and as me n mrs were walking back to it even she commented on how nice it looks. It's had most of the main rust weak spots done, such as both rear seat belt mounts, Both rear section sills inner and outer, nsf wheel arch/bulkhead and the boot floor below second set of seats.

yeah its a tidy truck, plus your front wings are good-ive seen trucks on ebay NOW, that are £1300 with rotten front wings.:thumbs

I got mine for £500 with 5 months tax and 5 months 140k. Although judging by the air filter its had a hard life :lol

i dont really know the value but if you had sold it when i asked if it was up for sale i would have been happy to pay 1400...

its a good bus

Aye, and where you sell it, terrano aren't popular where I am so prices are high, someone was selling a average condition 'R' reg touring for £3000!.......YES £3000.......AND it sold!:eek:

HeHe Larson, aint it just life. Got to say I love the truck to bits and it would be hard to say good bye but my head should rule my heart. Just had a costly bill on the Reno, could of been a heck of a lot worse. Trying to work out whether we should replace one of them now or wait until we will be in a better position next year. But would save some money if the T2 went theres no doubt. Trying to work out whether the Reno will break again this year, certainly drives loads and loads better now it's had some jobs done and the little 1.5DCI does 50mpg without thinking about it and more besides on a run.

Seen a Golf diesel for £1250 which is looking good too.

Tough choice. Right now, seems you need the money saving option. Get money in order, then maybe revisit terrano and replace the Reno.

What a car is worth is totally different to who is considering the value.

For example my 18 year old pristine low mileage 2.7 td LWB Maverick GLS, is probably worth...

£ 400 according to say direct line.:doh
£ well over this for a private sale after viewing.:augie

But what is it worth to me?:nenau

What would I have to spend to replace like for like, bearing in mind, there will probably be no other like mine of this age, so it would have to be a much later version, with no rust, perfect wings and 90k miles great engine, good service history, no damage.

So we are looking at probably more than £3500 to give me a vehicle I could run straight away.

So what if I have to spend money on my current Mav, how much do I spend? according to this theory up to say £ 3100 no chance I hear you say....

The car is still worth Direct Lines' £400 no matter what I spend.

I would spend a few hundred knowing that it will run for a few years more, BUT where do you draw the line?

When you start spending on a car, you never stop, best not to start I hear you say.

I have doubled the expenditure of last year, this year £13.90 for a new ball joint, and last year £6.90 for a new screen pump. :doh

Mind you MOT next week, and I still have to fix the fuel tank leak:doh

Will be home soon, so I will have a chance to look at the damage, so I might be asking for a replacement tank?

Best regards,

Rustic

Exactly Rustic, value is subjective. Somethings value is what someone is prepared to pay for it.

I love the car to bits and it has done everything that I have asked of it over the 11 years I've owned it and I'm pretty sure it still would too. Realistically it must be coming to the end of it's life so common sense should dictate replace it. Trouble is when I hear about newer models they all seem even more suseptable to rust than an older vehicle.

Just got the details of the Golf my wife had seen advertised at work, it's a "cat D", wife says that must mean it's a lower insurance group than the Terrano:doh FFS:nenau

Who knows what to do, the Reno will be getting a good run tomorrow so I'll see how it runs.

jim your wife said that you had some big bills on the renault but if your going to replace it i see no point in doing so with another car valued at 1200 as for sure everything on it is old and could go.. seriously i would look at spending more than i had and signing for a vauxhall insignia the diesel can do 75 mpg on motorway as can 09 fiesta,s so im told but none are 4x4

keep your bus as you will be gutted when its gone like i did with my patrol.

possibly the vehical i regret selling the most..... ever

Martin makes a fair point. Im gutted now mine has gone (although im planning for a new one). Id certainly consider a higher value car-£1200 for a golf is CHEAP-so beware!! I paid £1950 for my Fiat, I adore it, high spec, but hasn't been without a couple of things to replace plus £300 on the MOT-I am still way better off though than running the Mazdas

Its a very tricky situation Jim, one probably most of us on here have been through, but I think the general consensus is, sort your money out, and if that means a short term sacrifice in the form of one of your cars, then do it.

We don't have long on this earth, so I'd rather be sorting out the problems NOW, rather than later :thumbs

Well not doing anything in a hurry, going to see how the Reno goes for now. If I replace one of them then the replacememnt only has to last a year anyway. Unfortunately due to work commitments we need the 2 motors so not really a luxury.

aye, hopefully things will go smoothly mate and everything will work out.

OH BUGGER!!!!!!

Someone ran into the back of the Reno this afternoon:doh No serious injuries tho but I've got a stiff neck at the moment. Reno aint too good though but best of all it happened in front of two Police Community Support Officers. Wife was driving and she stopped at a queue of traffic but poor lady behind us didn't.
First impression the Reno needed a new rear bumper but when I got home and opened the tailgate it's a whole lot worse. Tailgate wont shut which means the car wont lock. The plastic boot floor is all cracked. The metal rear panel is crushing the spare wheel. She's an 05 plate so I'm thinking the insurance may well write it off. Emptied it of all our stuff ready for it going for repair anyway.

Anyhoo it's in the hands of insurance company, hire car arriving Monday and Reno picked up shortly after I hope.
