So, I pulled into Sainsbury's car park and, as I was parking, my horn sounded. Didn't think much of it until I came back and went to drive away. I put my key in the ignition, turned it and the horn sounded and would not stop even when I turned the ignition off. It only stopped when I pulled the horn push on the steering wheel back from the wheel but sounded again immediately I released. I have stopped it sounding continually by removing the fuse but this is obviously far from ideal. My guess is a short in the wiring as I can hear something catching/moving when I turn the wheel. I need to know how to get to the wiring for the horn switch without setting off the airbag, so any help is gratefully received. Car is a round headlight 1996 Maverick gls. :)

open the panels on the side of the steering wheel, don't disconnect the airbag connector or the airbag light will flash and error code needs wiping.

You will need a torch to see anything.

I had this problem, it was some sort lump of metal to stop vibrations? Only held in place with small bits of rubber inside the wheel. One side had broke and it was rattling around the steering wheel and setting the horn off. Then just got some long nose pliers and pulled the other securing rubber off and carefully got it out.

Worth a look.

had exactly the same on my Mk2 extracted metal lump and all OK, Rick
