Home Brewed Snorkel - My way

Just putting the finishing touches to my home brewed snorkel.
I'm still looking for a suitable elbow for the top but the jaunty angle on the mushroom top will do for now.

That's the way to do it :thumbs Try southdown for a top bit. It's already angled and you can turn it round to suit.

Observation:-
With a snorkel, is there a risk of some water building up in the lower part of the pipe, and as it accumulates, could under heavy braking, go forward into the air filter and straight into the engine?

On my mav there is a one way valve in the bottom of the filter to let any water out before it gets to the engine.

Is it worth fitting a one way valve in the snorkel pipe, or say a drain cock to let any water out say now and again?

Just wondered.

Mine has a low part as it were, No problems from me. Although my southdown snorkel top faces down

On my mav there is a one way valve in the bottom of the filter to let any water out before it gets to the engine.

snork works in much the same way as the air intake and uses the same airbox with that very same one way valve inside it

that one way valve is only there for very small amounts of water anyway

What you need is a bit of washer wiper hose attached to the low point and take that to the cabin at a lower point. Put a bolt or similar up the end so you can see any water in it and empty now and then. Saves sucking in water if you get water in the cabin :augie

Yes there is and is fine for water that condenses in the pipework and also rain etc but you should have one at a low point too.:thumbs

Few more pictures.
The rust on the wing is too bad for my meager skills so it's another bodge job, get rid of the flakey stuff and gung up well with waxoyl/underseal.
I need two new wings but that's unlikely so the scrapyard is my next stop.
I managed to cut a bit too much off the corner for the pipe,:doh:doh hence the rather fetching collar, well I like it:augie:augie
Been planning to fit an bit of extra protection under the front for a while and finally got around to it. It's really for riding over sand dunes when I'm in Morocco.
In retrospect I think I should have put the smooth side out but ha ho, better next time.
Number plate is only temp, it will be moved back to the correct location.

great snorkel mod best way i think if not going with a prefab one keeps the bits hide away

Tropical rain forest up here, well rain forest anyway, too darn cold for tropical.
My garden actually, and about 1/2 an acre more of rampant growth.
