Thanks again Rustic for that Email address he should now get my Email because I had sent one to the other address on the molyslip thread

Would just like to say thanks to all who have tried to help me out -welldone- -welldone- I've been in touch with Richard & some is on it's way in the post, so hope fully that beeeep diff will shut up if not it's going over the cliff's into the north sea
One last thing I know your all sick of me by now  Do you think I should change the diff oil again when I put the molyshuteruper in

Can't harm, but then everyone said that about the first change.

dont forget it could be your rear wheel bearings they are really easy to check just remove the rear halfshafts look in the workshop section under rear axle seals it would also be worth changing the seals.

Thank goodness for the internet, and this club, great that you have the Molyslip on its way, where else can you get things sorted at 10:00 pm on a Friday night.
I really hope you get this sorted, from my earlier thread I thought the previous owner may have added something to the oil...
How many miles has your vehicle done?
It may be worth changing the oil again, but be aware there may be other things in the oil that may have worked their way to the magnetic plug 8O 8O 8O Lets hope not.

Re bearing, I know you have tried the backlash in the crown wheel/pinion, but have you actually tried moving the input shaft up/down into the rear diff, and is there any oil leak around the seal? just a thought..

Here is another thought.. is the diff noisy when you are free wheeling say downhill in neutral ( take care when doing this, make sure the road is clear etc) ie no power through the rear diff..
I'm not sure what this will tell us but if it is quieter then it could be bearings.

Good luck, the Molyslip will probably arrive in Mondays post.
best regards,
Rustic

Have you not heard my 1000wats where you are Jace
Hummingbird I know your right
Rustic theirs no leaks & no play  The noise is only there when you put power to the diff , it starts at about 2k rpm.
So taking it out to day & going to try & get the oil working better in the diff as only done about 50-60 miles since the change. I think the molyslip should be here by mon/tues so I will change the oil again & hope it shuts up. I am now thinking it may be the bearings in the diff but it's only done 65&1/2K

just been looking in autodata manual for something else and on terrano 2.7td rear diff oil there is no mention of lsd oil so a garage unfamilar with terranos would bung in normal oil there is a sticker on axle warning lsd only but it could be covered in crud or missing.

LSD oil is the same as standard gear oil it just has an additive in it to protect the friction plates. If the garage has put non LSD oil in it will cause the friction plates to clog and the diff will tend to snatch when going round corners this can usually be cured by changing the diff oil a couple of times. It wont cause the diff bearings to go if the wrong grade oil has been fitted or the axle has been run with hardly and oil the bearings will go.

Just an up date, we went for a day out yesterday in the country side & gave it a good blast along the lanes  I dropped the oil today & it was black/green after 120 miles 8O put in the molyslip & fresh oil. Took it for a quick spin & I think but not sure it may be a thouch quieter  Any way time will tell if not i'll hav to buy another amp for the sound system

It will take a while for the molyslip to get around, I hope this solves the problem.
Amazing how the old stuff came out, no wonder it neaded a change.
Today I ordered some more molyslip G will use in other vehicle as well also ordered some Molyslip E for the engine, more preventative maintenence really. Also intend to use a little in an old 4 stroke outboard that has started to rattle a little...
best regards, Rustic

Hi Sweety, how's the old diff getting on ?
Has the molyslip started to work yet?

well i've only done about 60/70 miles in it & the whine is still there but the tone of it I think may of changed. I think i'll know better after i've done a couple of hundered miles :?
