:lol I get my fuel from esso it may cost bit more but i dont have to spend hours on end cleaning tanks and pipes i solved this one on post #21:clap

In your very first post you answered your own question, and post 19 big bunny said the same

I checked my feed and return from the fuel filter as I have replaced these with clear plastic piping and the pipe that comes from the tank to the filter was literally just trickling and had a minuscule but constant amount of fuel to it, I presume just enough to tick over but not enough to for under load, I got the misses to rev it whilst I watched the pipe and the level of fuel coming through didn't increase , I've also noticed that no matter how much I bleed the system the primer is always drawn down completely whilst the engine is running

primer down = blocked line, in your case in the tank, Rick

Must be truely organic veg oil that you are using then..:lol

so how could they have got into your tank? Rick

To answer your questions guys, when I fill my car up I usually do it next to the conifers so I think thats how it got in there as I pour a cubie in at a time

You did call it mate fair play, I just went with my hunch and it didn't pay off, I was scared to go near the tank if I'm honest as I'd heard lots of rust horror stories

Well done bud :thumb2 I'm just glad it's sorted

I got there in the end Rick :thumb2 I was sure it would have been the pipes etc not knowing about all the gubbins in the tank

Come on now guys, you can see that my veg is nice and filtered down to 1 micron :thumb2

Now stop taking the mickey you lot, there was advice there that I should have took and didn't at the time, lessons learned and at least I've learned more about my truck in the process and documented it well for others in future, isn't that what it's all about? :nenau

god job its sorted.i took the swerl pot off altogether and extended the pick up pipe to just of off the tank bottom.
my only concern is parking at the side of the road on the lean the pipe might be out of the fuel, but the swerl pot stores fuel to start.
i do not let my fuel go below the first mark on the gauge so no problem.
i do not think it spins around but the sides have fuel lifting groves so as fuel moves about it goes up the shaped groves into pot making a ready mini tank for starting.
you do not need 3" of fuel in tank.

No No No the pot is simply a method of providing pre heated fuel to the pump, Rick

i can see what rick is on about as the return to tank goes into the pot on return from ip and leak off pipes, heated from the warm engine.
i had not thought of that.
now i have changed my ip i am putting it back on the road 1st july and hope i have no more pump /fuel probs, though it still turn over a bit to start, this it did befor and started with no smoke so no fuel, now it starts with smoke so fuel is there, i will be doing the glow plugs as i cant think what else it could be.
if all is okay i will put pot back in.

Well if it turns out that you've knackered yours, the one out of the blue T2 that you can see in the pages before is available and I'll post it out to you :thumb2

Neither had I, good point though.

I did read that swirl pots also help in extreme conditions, like racing, eg when cornering, to ensure there is fuel available to the engine, so I guess it helps with steep terrain too, more especially if low fuel in the tank.:thumb2

So a little mini reservoir of fuel...
Every little helps... now where did I hear that before:nenau...
