Hello everyone
I have just bought a terrano11 1995 td slx. Lots of things wrong with it and the list is growing. So joined this site to get some help and already the forums have given me some. Thanks from me for the site I will be back soon with loads of questions 4x4 not working engine spluttering on start up but then clears have replaced the fuel fillter had the fuel pump reconditioned as there was water in the fuel had all the fuel pipes front to rear replaced given it a service but it is still dong it :? Things can only get better  :!: Bye for now

Welcome

Hi Willow,
Welcome to the site,
You sound like you have got your work cut out
i have recently joined and its a real friendly bunch here
You will get loads of advise here and you shoud get your T2 running as sweet as a nut soon im sure.
you sound like your looking in the right places for the spluttering (Have you checked the small filter located at the Injector pump banjo bolt?
It can give symptoms like this as well poor performance.

thanks for the reply Brian
Yes small filter taken out and cleaned I read about that one on here  I am going to give it a good run and see if that clears it cant think of anything else to do at the moment. We have a smallholding and I really need the 4x4 working so going to live with the spluttering for now and get going on the hubs we have fitted a kit to one side the other side looked ok but still not working. there is drive to the front wheels and light comes on on the dash but the hubs dont seem to be engaging. O what fun :?

Morning willow and welcome aboard. Just an idea but we have had members fitting fuel filters but the filters were a bad fit so didn't seal and let air in to the system. Lots of threads regarding Hubs so I'm sure you'll soon get sorted out.

Morning jim
Thanks for the reply. The fuel filter was fitted by the garage when they did the fuel pipes and the recon fuel pump. I will have a look thanks for the help. I am working my way through all the 4x4 not working forums lots of good advise thanks again.

Welcome to the club Willow, you'll soon get her running just fine, have you had a look through the download section??

hello from sunny norfolk

hello willow.
you say truck runs rough on start up then clears once warmed up.
could it be some of the glow plugs not working.
try going through the startup procedure 2 or 3 times, thus re cycling the glow plug circuit.
see if that makes any differance.
also look for the download on glow plug testing .
welcome and good huting.

Thanks to you all for the words of encouragement
I dont know if I am mad but sort of like the bus and if I can get the thing working properly I am sure Ill grow to love it  Anyway I am a smallholder we recycle just about anything here to save money
I will try the glow plug restarting thing today and yes I have now just about downloaded all the info on the possible things to check so thanks again for a great site If anyone is having a day out at the seaside pop in we live on the pedders way a there are few green lanes around here and I could do with someone who knows about 4 wheel drive because I dont   Thanks again

Hello everyone
good site this thanks .
think the proplem with bad running from cold could be the glow plugs will replace them this weekend thanks for the advice. Will let you know  Still working on the 4 wheel drive problem :?
Still sunny in norfolk no snow yet

Hi Wendy, when you have her running fine have a look at the threads regarding the autolocking free wheeling hubs. They are usually the problem with 4wd. I'm sure you'll grow to love the truck, I've had mine for over 6 years now. Mine's been a builders truck, a removal van, a camper, a bus and an occasional off road fun machine in the 6 years. It came in real handy with my allotment too, nobody else could get their cars round the muddy track but guess who did

Good Luck with the truck

Glad to hear of a girl that will get her hands dirty
Good for you Wendy -welldone- -welldone- -welldone- (not trying to sound patronising honest)

thanks Jim
I love it already even though it is possible the most worst buy I have ever made but thats another story  We are stuck with each other so I have already sorted out the bus route from my village to work  I am a smallholder I need another job to make it pay  Having said that the bus has started first time asked but then splitters so now I put my foot down to blow the whatever out :!: and it runs ok :!: :? I think the front part of the exhaust is blowing so need to look at getting that replaced would this make it splutter on start up :?: still havent sorted the 4 wheel drive need to soon got a lot of stock to move will have to get out the old fergie tractor and vw polo to tow it all to market

He you guys whats all this with a woman and 4x4 8)
I have been a country girl all my life but had a tractor as the main jobber
Thought I would replace my car with a all round jobber but it seems a tractor plus vw is a girls best friend  so far , but I want to be proved wrong because i like the terrano. Tractors go through all sorts without 4 wheel drive :p the terrano is going no where at the moment off road. As for a girl who will get her hands dirty I have been dong it al my life :!:
But hey hello and thanks for the welcome
This is a great site

A Terrano, River Cottage (well kind of) and a Fergie!!!!!!

Now that's cool (or at least to a 42 year old it is) 8) 8)
