Now that the cold weather is with us in the mornings just wondered how many of you use the Heat switch, I find this brilliant start car up flick on the heat switch after a couple of mins to let oil circulate, then clean the windows and mirrors and ready for the off with slightly warm air coming from the vents.
This button is also good when giving a jump start.

Kind regards

Tell us more... what is it?

It is a switch that increases the tickover to 1200rpm so great for getting windows defrosted etc in the mornings, gos a long way to solving the problem of diesels taking so long to warm up.

Kind regards

Aahhhh, yes the T1 has one of those, only it is more like a choke on a petrol car, you pull it out and can use it like a hand throttle.

My T2 is a Fly By Wire one, but I did wonder if there was a way of putting a potentiometer or switched resistor in parallel with the throttle Pot, to make an equivalent. It would be very handy at times.

Heater control

T 2 Very poor at warming Quick inside heater takes ages to warm

First you buy a 'troll, then you get a free button that increase the idle from about 700 to about 1200. Great on cold mornings and as Russell said, when giving a jump start. :thumb2:D:clap

I have this heat switch too, it's called "my foot" :augie

Mines going to be called a length of wood to jam between the seat & throttle:lol noticed today my door mirrors are in fact heated & with the heated rear window:D

Woohoo, I think mine was until it met some rocks :augie

Quickest way to warm any engine is drive it, wiping the windows over first, Rick

Funnily enough I was gonna post a thread asking you and Russell what your Trols were idling at as mine's been around 700 all the time I've had it but my workshop manual says it should be 750 (it is an Australian manual though so maybe they were a set up different).

Awesome isn't it :D

Think mine is 700 but will check later when out and about, I know I feel it is a bit on the low side as my transfer box rubs a bit at tickover, just thought it was low as an auto.

Kind regrads

I will take a closer look, the 700 was just from memory. :thumb2
One thing I have noticed is that on my auto, the higher revs from the switch stay constant. With my previous manuals, the revs drop back to normal as soon as you put it in gear.

my auto drops revs in gear as the other day I drove to school with it on and revs went up as I engaged park.

Kind regards

Yeh as soon as I put mine in gear with the heat switch on the revs drop back down to normal idle.

Checked the idle revs coming in this morning and she's probably around 725 rpm at the moment. Tbh I've not bothered getting the idle looked at as the Trol can still pull itself uphill from dead stop at idle in 1st or reverse without missing a beat and the oil pressure at idle is well above the minimum (I've got a gauge fitted). Stick her in 1st 4L and she'll climb mountains easy at the current idle revs :nenau

Looks like a job for me for the weekend, try and find out where this should connect and why it isn't. :doh
