Whoops nearly had the wheel off:lol right just whipped the switch and run the old eyes and multimeter over it and it all seems to be working correctly i get a continuity reading when its on low beam on what i think are the right bits (although i am crap at lectrics so could be wrong) but from what i can see theres not much can go wrong with these as they are all solid bits of metal inside. Could it still be dodgy? I dont want to shell out for a switch only to find its no different cos money a bit tight at the mo.
cheers
Mark
Did you check that you have power at the bulb holder itself at the slot in the connector for the dip beams when you have the switch switched to dip beams. If you have power at that slot when switch is turned to dip beams and no power when switch is off dip beams I would have thought your switch would seem ok.
hi fellas has anyone got a wiring diagram for 1996 terrano/mav as this bloody lights driving me mad, im pretty sure its the switch but on inspection it all seems ok. but when i put it back it still doesnt work. if i run a wire from the bulb to the wire for the other light at the switch it works so im pretty sure it is the switch might have to bodge a wire in to take the feed from the other circuit not sure how succesful that will be as it might overload it.
my idea of bodging a wire didnt work, i cant seem to locate the connection for the dip beam and if i run a wire direct to the bulb all i get is the min beam ! If i go dirsct to the battery the dip works so i know the bulbs ok. The passenger side works fine so the relay (it only has one) is working ok just no juice getting from the switch to the light will have to give in and get a new switch if only to eliminate that. Blimey give me wood and metal any day of the week at least you can see whats going on!
