Has anyone on this site took the complete ifs suspension out of a terrano and fitted a solid axle in its place, maybe landy/hilux or similar.. Been looking on other sites and its quite common but seems to be mostly in other countries..... My mate has just bought a swb commercial t2 and we got talking and measuring up my rangies running gear.. I have spare complete axles so would be cheap to use landy gear thats the reasoning behind thinking landy stuff.

He said the LR word again, Miss Miss tell him :lol
It's not a job for the faint hearted and in my opinion a waste of time.
Just get a LOKKA and fit that, simples.
All the SAS I've seen (on line, youtube etc) have had similarly limited travel and still have open diffs
Also remember that the LR eeuuww axles will need cutting and shutting to get the diff the right way round to suit the T2 transfer box prop.

Are you thinking of ditching the y60 swb idea and moving to the t2 swb as a starting point for a different angel on things :naughty

Prob easier to import a Nissan exttra front axle from the states as i'm 99% sure that model uses the same rear axle as the T2 but the later ones had rear disc brakes. LR axles as weak snapping half shafts is common even when fitted with HD ones:doh but what ever axle is used there is a load of welding & fab work to do

Mr k no no hehehehe, i love patrols its only a matter of time before i pick up a swb y60/y61 just have to find the right one at the right price. Unfortunatly the wife isnt working at the minute so i am reluctant to spend anything, well only on the bathroom which Was started whilst she had a job and now it has to be finished.:doh.

How this came about was my mate has just bought a very well looked after t2 swb commercial amazingly completely rust free (front cross member looks like its just come from the factory) and we were looking at the axles i have kicking around. i just happened to mention about the sas conversion i had seen done and he got all interested... I just thought i would ask if anyone had done any conversions on this site to see if it is worth the effort or not... Think i got my answer....

Think pretty much everything in that thread answers it but if I was going to do it i'd either try and mate a patrol gearbox and/or transfer box to a 2.7 or 3.0 terrano or use Jeep axles with stronger internals.

But to be honest lots of work for a road legal motor.
