well could not find the old thread, if there was one? so thought I would start a new one, gave it a once over today, not too bad at all for what he paid for it, it has some oil leaks, in fact lots of them, oil every where but until it is jet washed off cannot tell from where, except rear dif pinion is deffo leaking, fuel lines to the rear badly rusted so need renewing, exhaust is shot all of it, someone has changed NS HB cable and not fixed the outer so = no HB, NS CVJ boot shot, NS OK at the mo, front prop rear UJ shot, some chassis rot setting in but a clean up and treat now will save it, front x member is the only welding needed for now, now to the engine issues removed the maf and stuck it in the wifes 2.7 no problem, wifes maf in the 3 made no difference bad, not a completely reliable test as the mafs have slightly different numbers, post pics later, there are so many more gismos on the 3, I have no idea what they do at this stage, what I am not sure about is the fact that on first starting today it ran fine revved to full range and stayed there, turned it off and tried various computer hook ups but no joy, it has no pin 7 and I do not have a connector to USB from this, perhaps someone can tell be the pins to short to get the codes, although I do not think there will be any, anyway on starting it again to demonstrate to a mate it farted about:doh, here are the two mafs

I have not looked closely at the cable other than it is new, but think it could be for a SWB as it seems a bit stretched, here is the front x member

the front bumper frame is in pretty good order, it needs removing/cleaning and protecting now to save it, Rick

The maff ending in 061 is for 2001-2003 2.7 tdi as same as mine. I tried a maff from round head light 98 truck and was very sluggish and after a mile went into limp mode

What year truck is his

Thanks Rick for starting on my beast, i know its in good hands
yep, i can confirm that it is a 2003.
Please dont forget that this truck has been run on home made bio diesel and to be honest i dont think that it was good quality at all.
Might be worth draining the tank when doing the fuel lines and changing the filter as this may be adding to the problem and possibly fuel starvation.
Give it your loving care Rick, i got a feeling that it will be worth it in the end with this one lol

Changed mine earlier this year, wasnt the fault so have a spare. will have a look in the garage in the morning and get you the part no.

Oh deer on a 3 litre home made oil! There's alot of.horror stories on those engines as dad has elgrand with that engine. But if you do a few food mods like catch can egr delete and take away ecu control of wastegate they're awesome but not running on oil that's not good

If ya wanted to send me the 061 maff ill try it on mine and report back as def not right one for that engine

I have a feeling the fuel maybe the main issue of the vehicle not revving up fully and farting about.
Would make sense to drain tank and do fuel lines and filter first before ripping the electronic side of it apart.

my thoughts but instead of draining tank will put a day tank on roof and feed it from there this sorts fuel type and possible pipe perforations leading to air in the system, Rick

MAF NO FOR MY 3.0 2003 MOTOR ARE.
F00C 2G2 061

385 26 2 A
Hope that helps..

thanks for that, 061 is the same as in his motor, tried neat good fuel today made no difference at at all, thinking EGR stuck open? Rick

Mine was loss of power and turned out to be the neutral position switch , the egr blank is a no no on the 3 litre but would be ok to rule it out on temp basis. But im not telling you how to suck eggs.lol:augie

yes know about the box switch, but that only applies to Autos, and no not thinking of blanking the EGR but it may be stuck open which will cause problems, and just found out there is a throttle body vac operated, need to check that out, Rick

Why a no no as on elgrand forum they say its a must on 3litre and its same engine
