Gypsies moving in

Yup, they are moving in just down the road from me, usually this time of the year, Irish gypsies looking for work, 3 times they tryed to buy my 4X4 today keeping everything under lock and key here just now, they usually stay for about a month then move on. Havnt caused any harm yet, anyone else have 'em ? We generally get a lot of weird things in this area of Dumfries and Galloway

Had a bit of experiance with them over the years. The proper Irish travellers are the worst.

But we get a lot of them in staffs and Shropshire on perm sites with static caravans, not half as bad, done a bit of work with them when I was younger.

But either way can't trust any of them and watch them like a hawk, and tie everything down lol

yes we had some a few years ago, wanted to buy water from me, until I told them I extract it from the ground pump it and filter it which costs money and we do not have any spare, next a while later one of our jacks went missing (old bonnie a fat old lady 14 at the time) went into their camp asking about her and a woman said they found a pregnant bitch, I asked if I could see her, back up stiff and forceful stare, she bought her out (bonnie) I told her she was a fat 14 year old lady and they lost interest, picked her up and came away, never had any more trouble from them, they were moved on a year or so later, Rick

Well, they've now settled in and I can still hear the bastards yelling when I'm outside, :doh going to be a 'interesting' night, will probably get hassle from them when working on my terrano as they'll see I've got tools they could 'borrow'

They moved onto a derelict pub car park down the road from me a few years back until my dad his 3 brothers and their 4 bouncer/bodybuilder mates went down with all their Range Rovers and Land Rovers and gave them an ultimatum to ship out and do one in 2 days or they'd be back to tow them away themselves

Needless to say, they went and never came back lol

If I were you Ryan I wouldn't even entertain the thought of exposing any tools in front of them!!!

Just depends on how lo g they are going to be here for tho, think if anything, I'll keep me tools well out the way when working as I don't trust the sods

If they came at me, I'll thump 'em back to Ireland seriously, I keep a iron crowbar in my truck at all time, and failing that, I've got a torsion bar near my work area :hmh

you have to understand that when people have had dealings with the travelling community in the past where property is taken or damaged and little or nothing is done about it by the authorities, People tend to Tar them all with the same brush.

I'm not even getting into the debate, but a couple of tiny points Gypsy should always be capitalised like English or African. And there are two different ethic groups your are referring to here! stereotyping and scapegoating are the tools of the ignorant - I suppose all black men can dance too? :augie

Aye, I wonder if what I said came out wrong:augie sorry, I don't mind gypsies, the Irish or anything, I've had dealings with 'true' romanys when working at music festivals and they are some of the nicest people you could meet, very helpful and friendly, but the modern day gypsies on the other hand can't be trusted as they aren't the proper type who are nice people no racism intended, just wanted to warn people for there own safey and knowledge incase they ever have these dealings.

If I really didn't like them, I wouldn't go caravaning :lol

If they are ok with me, I'll be ok with them........enough said.
