Over the past week or so had a grinding noise when braking.Knew the disks where on there way out so ive changed both disks and pads. However since then i still have the grinding noise when braking.I made sure the back plate on the disks where not touching in anyway but still the same.Did notice one of the pistons on the caliper was sticking but sorted that when i changed the disks.Just for the life of me cant think what else can be causing it to grind(mainly when heavy braking).:confused::confused::confused: Did also check the rear shoes and apart from a slight leak from the wheel cylinder(which i got today)they seem fine

that happens to me from time to time, grinding and feels like its not brakeing properly, like you only when braking heavily i just lift my foot up and brake again and its fine, would like to know what it is though

Have you got abs. thats what mine does sensor or dodgy wire to abs.

yeah I was just going to say ABS, could be a slight fault perhaps...

If it's from the front, then the only things I can think of is excess bearing wear, or the sliders on the calipers are not sliding easily.

Normally a stone trapped behind the disc can make weird noises, but since you have new discs, you can rule that one out.

do you have excess rust build up in the outer and inner edges of the disk, this can cause grinding under heavy braking until the pad is ground away, Rick

I've had the 'stone trapped' thing, makes a dreadful grinding noise

Mines a 1995 so no ABS.When i changed the disks one of the sliders was well stuck and too a good 25min to free. But did clean it all up after and copper greased it all. Also i did have a problem with one of the pistons on the caliper but too that apart and cleaned up everything.May tomorrow recheck them just in-case there stuck at all again.

makes sense.....worth trying a few hard braking manoeuvres (out of the way of course!) to work them in quickly and see if that helps?
