Hi,

I live in Nairobi, recently bought a Terrano II 2.7 (92KW, YOM 2003) here. Seems like a good car, is a bit slow though. Reason may be that the previous owner replaced the original cylinderhead with one used in the Nissan minibuses around here, which is a non-turbo. Found out about that too late. Although it seems to be working so far, I just don't like the idea. So my first task on the car is to find a good cylinderhead replacement (complete with valves, cam shaft etc.) either in Kenya or in the UK. Any help is highly appreciated.

As I understand it they are the same as the compression ratios are the same for the non turbo and turbo

I'd be looking else where, check fault codes, more likely the maf
Does it have a turbo fitted ?

@stinka: Thanks, that would be good news, a cylinderhead is quite costly. Thing is that one connnector to the cylinderhead is loose because there is no plug on the head's side. I think it is the sensor to manage the fuel mix during engine warm-up. The engine does lots of Diesel-rattling when cold. Yes, it has a turbo. What is "maf"?

Maf is the mass air flow sensor

Post some pics of the engine bay, point out the wire

A close up of each 1/4 of the bay would be cool, well see if we can see anything obvious

Just paid my membership fee. Feels like getting a driver's license. I tried to take a few pictures of the cylinderhead in question, but it is quite well hidden. Don't know if any of you guys can make something of it. It would also help to learn what this disconnected plug is for. Anyone? By the way: Is it still ok to continue with this subject here or should I move it to he tech-thread?

the simplest solution to your " plug problem " is to look within reach of it for a socket it could fit in ......... but then I know nuffin
