I think my wellers have got a little less offset than standard though as the tyres are only just inside the arches and they are barely wider than standard.

Unless you need to to regain lost steering lock I wouldn't do it. Wider track will not effect body roll as thats down to suspension and in fact the extra leverage can make the front effectively softer on wishbone type suspension. The only real benefit would be on cross slopes but you have to be really brave to get anywhere near toppling over as I'm sure you know Jonathan, always feels far worse inside than it really is. Plus spacers and outset wheels can kill wheel bearings, ruin the ackerman on the front so induce tyre wear on the road, tyres beyond bodywork is illegal etc etc etc, lots of reasons why they're not too good. Having said that I know Sharkie and a few others have them but I think that was down to getting the 31s to clear and cosmetics of course.

I have a plan!!

Because I need my car every day and cant afford it to be off the road while doing things, not having much time to complete stuff etc..........

Ive decided to buy another one for off roading!!

This way i dont care about scratches and dents and the interior getting filty, also will be able to do any work on at my pace (snails) and put all the things i should carry in it.

All I need now is a cheap mav/T2 and the best insurance quote ever, can you get limited cover??

Oh and camo paint

Theres an old D21 maybe even 720 pickup on the way home that is painted camo style, I quite like it!

mates disco just blown its second front axle in yr an he never uses the thing in 4x4! luckily enough plenty in scrappys, wonder why lol!

He has to use it in 4wd, Disco's are a full time system with a centre diff. More likely he has a leak somewhere from the diff causing him a problem.

Re rear diff guard, I did get an idea for a guard from someone on Difflock, they welded several pieces of appropriately shaped steel (think squares, rectangles & triangles) to form a "dish" of sorts. He then used 2 long bolts welded to it and a bracket across the topof the diff input flange to hold the front, and at the rear had 2 slotted brackets that were held in place with the bolts securing the diff.

I did have some pics on my old PC, might be able to find them and post them somewhere on here.

disco in pieces today full water mustve been from floods! so it hasnt done to bad

The way I thought of it was just a sort of plate or tube config no lower than the axle so it bashes that before the axle. possibly! :!: which actually sounds like what youve just written

I don't think landy springs if thats what you're offering Andy, wil fit. Tommo had to grind down Landy dislocation cones to get them to fit inside T2/Mav springs. I've got my old SWB springs still will measure the diameter and post it tomorrow.

Yes my old landy springs, thanks for the meaurements.

Have measured up one of my old Mv/T2 springs and they are around 4" or possibly 100mm internal diameter, what size are the landy ones Andy?

Approx 6" from outer ring to outer ring accross so that would be external diameter. About 15 & 1/2 tall. The springs are heavy duty so there may not be a lot in it? They may fit with a little effort and work, maybe?

I think its worth a look see.

If Iandouglas or 4x4xford wants to fetch them or come to my house I'll happily help try and fit them too. Don't have welding eqpt though if owt needs burning or plates need making.

Good price, especially for a toy  You can afford to not worry about it too much if its not your only ride. Get an Ins quote first, 2nd cars can be expensive, it was cheaper for me to ins the Disco fully comp than try TPFT or low mileage or any other form of discount 8O I now have two 4x4s both fully comp, two sets of NCD and all for around £300 a year.

Mav/T2 springs are about the same length uncompressed but i've had a look at disco spring rates and the rear springs are over twice the rate, fronts aren't too bad against Mav/T2 rears - its worth a try but i think making up 4 adaptors to space the springs down by an inch will be more effort than its worth.

Well I dunno, cos I'm not technically minded, I'm more of a shove it in try it and see how it goes. Just for reference my new 2" lift springs were the same size as the old ones stood side by side but have lifted the vehicle.

The springs I'm giving away to Iandougals and 4x4xford were on my garage floor awaiting the "tip run" so its costing nobody anything just to try them for fit if you see what I mean.

I read a previous link on insurance, think it was yours actually so waiting for a quote off bollington, but this was one online that rang me back.

Ok im now going through different ads for my second car

Petrol or diesel :!:

Im thinking diesel because of torque and electrics?? am I right?

There is a 2.4 extreme P reg near me with mot for £999 ono.

Never driven one of the diesel versions so can't comment on the torque difference, though torque at the wheels can be "made" by just being in a lower gear.

Electrics wise I've probably had mine in as deeper water for as long as anyone and its never missed a beat. The distributor is sealed with a built in rubber 'O' ring and comes equipped with a nice little rubber boot to go over all the leads. Main worry would be the ECU but theres the same problem on the diesels too.

if your gonna have it as dedicated off roader trailored to venue diesels the choice as youd be able to run on red diesel lol
