Ok guys, thinking about getting a pro to do all the chassis/mount welding. Quite happy to take on the easy to reach places, but under would be a nightmare!!

So, the question is - you've seen the thread and the main issues underneath. What would I expect to pay to get the work done. Getting harder to get garages to do welding, but been to one local and they are willing to have a look. Tried to get a feeling for prices, but understandable they can't commit without seeing.

It scares me the amount of brown stuff beneath and as someone else has said - you just keep chasing the rot. The MOT is due in October, so need to get something sorted.

Rick, ever been to Northern Ireland. I have a wee holiday home in Portrush you can rest in after finishing my welding!!

My lad is £25 an hour as he's just started his own business.
Cheap as chips for now :sly

Would that be standard? or what would a max amount be? I'm guessing 1 days work, maybe two.

In my experience there are not many garages that have decent welders, you need to seek out a metal workshop rather than a garage, metal workshop will have all the skills needed and some, Rick

I second that, garages just weld a scab on the outside and over the top, i am honestly shocked at what passes for welding these days!!

See my truck pics for proper repair work. No scraps welded on scabs here :)

That is correct but your boy is a welder not your average garage part changer, most you could not even call fitters/mechanics, let alone welders, Rick

Our local welder/fabricator is £27 hr which I think is very cheap I have even told him he needs to up his pricing as he is very skilled, has an excellent reputation & overheads running a workshop like his are not cheap.
